ENERGY CONVERSION SYSTEM

(ME 3103)
Examples of energy conversion
 Nuclear power plant to tubelight:
 Nuclear → thermal → fluid energy → mechanical →
magnetic → electric →…. → thermal (radiation)
 Coal to fan: Chemical → thermal → fluid energy →
mechanical → magnetic → electric →... magnetic →
mechanical → fluid energy
Course Outlook:
 The course deals with three different energy
conversion systems

 Internal combustion engines

 Turbomachines
 Refrigeration systems

 The working of these systems and the application

of thermo-fluid dynamic analysis to them is
introduced
