Statement of Purpose

Master of Science in Automotive Software Engineering

Success is a lifetime journey, not a destination. I have lived an ordinary life, learnt from every
mistake that I have ever made, concluded every situation with an upcoming bigger picture. I am
Hamza Akbar, who has strived all along his vitality, by being rigidly determined to achieve the
goals, ever set forth.

Today, software, large computing power, and advanced sensors increasingly step into that role;
they enable most modern innovations, from efficiency to connectivity to autonomous driving to
electrification and new mobility solutions. With cars positioned to offer increasing levels of
autonomy, automotive players see the quality and security of vehicle software and electronics as
key requirements to guarantee safety. However, as the importance of electronics and software
has grown, so has complexity.

Now, as an ambitious and young Software Developer with intense desire to improve knowledge
and abundant stamina, I recently did bachelor in Computer Science with flying colours and would
like to improve my skill in technical knowledge by taking up advanced courses in automotive
software engineering. Ever since I joined my under-graduation courses; Computer Graphics,
Human Computer Interaction, Software Engineering, Information Management and Information
Systems Development have fascinated and engrossed me and I felt necessity of equipping myself
with deeper understanding of these subjects and broadening my spectrum in the mentioned
field.

In my seventh semester at Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Pakistan, I participated in a

seminar on “Technology Systems Innovation” as a speaker with Prof. Dr. Amir Raza. I had also
taken up courses of Computer Programming, Basic Electronics, Object Oriented Programming
with C++, and Wireless Networks as a part of curriculum of Bachelor of Computer Science.
Moreover, I did an intensive training program at Fabulous Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in different
programming languages which gave me insight into various aspects of Information technologies
involved in software industry.

Education is a matter of affection with learning, so the fruits of higher education can be relished
only when there is sync between the interest and the course content. Graduate degree from
abroad is particularly preferred in Pakistan’s automotive industry and having a degree from a
well reputed institute would kick start my career. I have deep interest to investigate the areas of
research including Advanced Embedded Systems, Deduction System, Artificial intelligence and
Formal software development methods. Technische Universität Chemnitz is very active in the
exploration of a number of key areas within automotive field which students will focus upon
during the studies and individual research project. Practical work is another important part of
every study and due to strong links of this university within the industry, companies will allow
internships to students.

Regardless of your current specialization, there are always new things you can learn to add to
your arsenal of skills. For instance, in today’s climate, learning about automotive software could
lead me to an interesting career path in the future. My idea behind joining the MS in Automotive
Software Engineering is to enhance my technical skills regarding automotive industry as well as
to get an intensive training in this field so that after completion I will be in a position to extract
utmost benefit from my graduate program. I will utilize my knowledge and experience for the
betterment of automotive industry in Pakistan because there is a prediction that it will be the
fastest growing industry after the government recently imposed heavy duty on imported cars.

I believe that “Accomplishments lie within the reach of those who reach beyond themselves”. I
am confident of making my own humble contribution in enhancing the image and reputation of
your esteemed university in the years to come. I look forward to joining Technische Universität
Chemnitz for a master program.
