Please answer the following questions:

A/ What is your definition of « Management »? And of a really good Manager? (2 points)

Management its planning organizing and controlling a situation a group with a set of skills that
allows to max out efficiency in reaching a goal. Management is like investment: its goal is to
get the most out of resources, add the most value or get the best return.

A good manager needs to be a good leader is about influencing people to change direction.
When senior executives decide to change direction, this is seen as leadership this leadership is
also important to motivate other people to follow you, grow as a person and also to make
them give their best at job.

B/ Can you explain the « Levels of Consciousness » model, after R. DILTS & G. BATESON? (2
points)

The pyramid of logical levels allows to bring to consciousness where the internal conflict is and
to be able to solve it. The following figure illustrates the pyramid of neurological levels:
On the other hand Gregory Bateson introduced the logical levels of thinking. Points out that
the processes of learning, change and communication exist natural hierarchies.
The function of each of the levels of thought is to organize the information of the lower level
and its subsequent levels.
The confusion of the logical levels is what originates the problems in the human being.

C/ Can you explain the « Personal Values Assessment » model, after R. BARRETT’s model?
What is a personal value? (2 points)
It Is a model that allows us to understand and work on the evolution of Organizations towards
future models more with the Internal and External Ecosystems, with people and their groups
both inside and outside the organization.

The Personal Values Assessment is a simple survey that provides a wealth of information about
why we do what we do. Our way of acting and thinking is connected to our personal values
and our values represent what is important for us. Our motivations and beliefs are the causal
factors that drive our decision-making

D/ What is the difference between resistance and resilience in physics? And in management?
(2 points)

RESILIENCE is the mental ability to recover quickly from depression, illness or misfortune and
RESISTENCE the act of resisting, or the capacity to resist.
In management resilience is the positive ability of a system or company to adapt itself to the
consequences of a catastrophic failure.

E/ What is called the « amygdala hi-jack »? (2 points)

The amygdala hi-jack is an emotional reaction in relation something that triggered it because it
is perceived as a threat to emotional stability. This occurs because the amygdala steals the
activation of other brain areas, turning off the area that makes us more rational, more human.

F/ What are the 5 steps of the swing of change? (2 points)

1.Denial
In which the existence of unpleasant internal or external realities is denied and kept out of
conscious awareness.

2. Open resistance

Is like an invisible wall that stands between aspiring individuals and the actualized self they
desperately want to become.

3. Depression
The vast majority of that $44 billion loss in productivity comes not from absenteeism due to
the disorder. It’s the product of so-called presenteeism, the many people with depression
showing up for work but not functioning at anywhere near full capacity.

4.Resignation
When people are unsure of what we can or cannot control, they tend to think that they have
completely no autonomy.

5.Appropiation

Actively agrees on something. It is a response towards change in life or the organization.

G/ What did you take from the String Square exercise? (2 points)

It was a really fun exercise where you could evidence how people are natural leaders where
they took the initiative to guide all the group towards the goal that is to make a perfect square
without the ability to see. The exercise helps to improve communication and team work also
to demonstrate that even if you have some difficulties it is possible to achieve anything.

H/ What are the 4 factors of motivation at work? (2 points)

Intrinsic motivation: It is not necessary to have the objective of obtaining an economic benefit
or immediate results it is about intangible rewards.

Extrinsic Motivation: It is about enjoying more of the goal achieved than the journey, in
addition on having to a tangible reward such as money.

Positive motivation: if the trigger is configured as a reward or reward.

Negative motivation: if the reinforcement of the employee's behavior is associated with


punishments or threats

J/ How would you define your country’s culture main aspects and influence on business
manners? (2 points)

The culture defined as the set of knowledge, traditions, uses and customs that is learned and
transmitted from generation to generation.

In relation to the mentality of the common Colombian in the business issue, it is directed to
the retail trade. The Colombian builds his way of negotiating from the everyday life of his
home and the influence of the environment or culture that surrounds him. The Colombian
culture has strongly ingrained values such as hospitality, cordiality and a strong sense of
familiarity among people. But in the country, there is a lot of uncertainty, violence, poverty
and inequality. The most common way of business bargain. That is, try to talk to the other
party, argue and make a request to the other party, in order to get the most out of it possible
for yourself. The country's culture has made the Colombian specialize more in this procedure.
It is not because the Colombian is bad, but because of the situations that he has had to live.

K/ What did you personally learn during the intensive class? (2 points)
I personally learned to improve my communication with other cultures since in the classroom
there were people from countries all around the, it is especially hard to communicate with
people that are from Asia but the exercises made in class help to break the ice and be more
familiar also it helped my leadership abilities by giving me tools, examples and exercises to
stimulate it.
