Presentation

A. Motivation: Read the following sentences with correct pronunciation and enunciation.

1. Mica bought a cell phone last week.


2. Lester watched the sunrise this morning.
3. Jessa love to buy sunflowers.
4. Lanz had a tooth ache.
5. Aj is sleeping in the classroom.
6. Fernan didn’t take his breakfast.
7. The girlfriend of Airon is beautiful.

9. The vendor sells flowers on the sidewalk.

Discussion:

A compound word is when two words are combined to form a new word or phrase
that has an entirely new meaning.

Examples:

Sun+Flower= Sunflower

Sun+Set= Sunset

Tooth+Ache= Toothache

Straw+Berry= Strawberry

Hand+Shake+ Hand shake

Blood+Shed= Blood shed

Spelling+Book= Spelling book

Black+Board= Blackboard

Cellular+Phone= Cellphone

Sun+Light= Sunlight
