 Particular attention must be taken when unloading the materials. Use the
necessary lifting means in function of the crates weight, do not use under-
dimensioned means.
 Compliance with site regulations regarding materials handling and storage and
with the applicable safety plan.
 Do not stack boxes some boxes might not be structured to bear a load on the
upper part and stacking only one box may result in the collapse of the bottom one
more over for a better check and handling of the materials stacking the boxes
may cause excessive waste of time.
 Open the boxes inside storage areas protected from atmospheric agents.
 Maximum care will be taken during the transportation and handling of Switchgear,
MCC, , accessory unit & structural materials, etc...
 Stainless steel &alloy steel pipes, flanges and fittings will be handled transported
& stored separately.
 Extreme care will be taken to prevent the surface of piping, fittings and valves
materials from contamination, damage and corrosion.
 Nylon Belts will be used for handling stainless steel materials.
 Always attend to the opening of the boxes, external personal could misunderstand
tags.
 Check the materials in the boxes against the relevant packing list attached.

Material Storage:

 To reduce the number of material handling injuries and to increase efficiency,

combining or eliminating unwanted operations will be adopted thereby
minimizing material handling.
 Both temporary and permanent storage must be neat and orderly.
 Carbon steel, alloy steel and stainless steel materials will be properly
segregated during storage.
 Flanges will be kept on wooden planks in order to protect the serrated face.
 Stocked items will be suitably protected from damage by providing spacers or
load distribution supports and will be safely arranged.
 No materials will be stored directly on the ground. Material will be properly
stored so that they are not subjected to excessive stresses and that protective
coatings and finishes are not damaged.
 All materials stored outside that may deteriorate or may be damaged as a
result of direct exposure to weather will be adequately covered or protected.
 Small material, spares of equipment & special items will be stored on the shelf
classified in accordance to type, material and size identification will be
attached in front of each material.
 To prevent material loss, only the material controller should be allowed to enter
the warehouse, warehouse should be locked after working hours.
