A. PROJECT PROPOSAL

I. Title:
Gulayan sa Paaralan Program

II. Proponent:
Paolo Joshua M. Sarmiento, Gulayan sa Paaralan Program Coordinator, NCSAT

III. Cooperating Persons:


Naga City School of Arts and Trades faculty and students in cooperation with the community of Barangay
Sabang, Naga City.

IV. Timeframe:
June 2019 – March 2020

V. Rationale:
Pursuant to DepEd Memorandum No 293 s. 2009, DA Administrative Order 10 s. 2007 and in line with the
Division Change Plan: “TRANSFORM Naga”, schools are encouraged to raise the level of public
consciousness on health and nutritional dimensions as well as economic benefits of establishing school and
households through vegetable production and urban gardening. The Naga City School of Arts and Trades in
partnership with the local office of Barangay Sabang, Naga City adopted the program to ensure effective
implementation.

VI. Objectives
Gulayan sa Paaralan Program aims to:
1. Provide sustainable supplementary feeding by teaching school children the concept and importance of
agriculture specifically vegetable production
2. Practice of planting and habit of consuming vegetable products
3. Reduce malnutrition among school children and poverty alleviation through gardening in school yards.
4. Produce crops which have the highest nutritional values with less impact to nature by organic farming
and urban gardening.
5. Exhibit small-scale production models in schools to be replicated in barangay area and household.

VII. Methodology
The purpose of this major output is to provide avenue for students to explore their skills and abilities in raising
various crops. Over and above, the installation of selected materials to be used as structural unit were plants
are grown will serve as their functional laboratory for opportunities of observation, practice and
experimentation.

IX. Financial Requirement


The source will be augmented from various sponsoring government agencies such Department of Agriculture,
City Government of Naga and Local Barangay of Sabang, Naga City.
