Mr. McGroarty received his credential through the UCLA Extension Single Subject Preliminary
Credential Intern Program. I was his University Intern Instructor/Coordinator from Fall 2016 to
Summer 2017.
Mr. McGroarty was consistently organized and efficient balancing his daily responsibilities:
teacher of record, UCLA intern and student. He collaborated and worked well with school staff
and UCLA cohort. Mr. McGroarty was highly efficient, and always well prepared and ready to
meet the varied social, behavioral and academic needs of his students.
Mr. McGroarty consistently provided multiple opportunities for representation, expression and
engagement. He differentiated instruction to meet his students’ needs. Mr. McGroarty was very
adept at modifying instructional activities to facilitate comprehension and achievement for all
students. He utilized age appropriate, student related discussions, visual aids, lecture, technology,
kinesthetic and tactile activities, to motivate and reinforce.
Mr. McGroarty demonstrated sincere determination to continue his growth and development as a
professional educator. He conscientiously reflected upon his teaching practices and collaborated
with colleagues to enhance his instructional skills. He welcomed opportunities for growth and
exploration. Mr. McGroarty demonstrated outstanding academic research skills: research, plan,
teach and assess, reflect and apply. His coursework and fieldwork was exceptional and exemplary.
Mr. Michael McGroarty possesses calm, confident professionalism, which enables him to establish
and maintain congenial rapport with students and staff. His sincerity and enthusiasm for the welfare
of each student enhances his outstanding teacher competencies. Mr. McGroarty would be a
valuable asset to any school.
