UNIT I : FORCE ANALYSIS AND FLYWHEELS (6+6)

Balancing of rotating masses - balancing of reciprocating masses - partial balancing of unbalanced primary force
in a reciprocating engine - balancing of multi cylinder inline engines, V-engines - balancing machines

UNIT III : LONGITUDINAL VIBRATION (6+6)

Definitions - types of vibrations - basic features of vibratory systems - degrees of freedom - inertia effect of the
mass of spring - damped vibrations - logarithmic decrement - Forced vibrations - forced damped vibrations -
magnification factor - vibration isolation and transmissibility

UNIT IV : TRANSVERSE, TORSIONAL VIBRATIONS AND VIBRATION MEASUREMENT (6+6)

Transverse vibrations - Single concentrated load - uniformly loaded shaft - shaft carrying several loads -
- whirling of shafts - Free torsional vibrations - single rotor system, two rotor and three rotor
