WAITIG THE WORLD TO CHANGE
Song Analysis

Verse 1]
Me and all my friends
We're all misunderstood
They say we stand for nothing and
There's no way we ever could
Now we see everything that's going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don't have the means
To rise above and beat it

[Chorus]
So we keep waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
It's hard to beat the system
When we're standing at a distance
So we keep waiting
Waiting on the world to change

[Verse 2]
Now if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They would have never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on their door
But when you trust your television
What you get is what you got
Because when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want
[Chorus]
That's why we're waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
It's not that we don't care
We just know that the fight isn't fair
So we keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change

[Guitar Solo]

[Chorus]
And we're still waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting, waiting on the world to change
One day our generation
Is going to rule the population
So we keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change

[Outro]
Now we keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change

1. Choose one favorite song.

 Waiting the world to change by John mayer

2. What made you choose this song?

 I chose this song because the lyrics of it reminds me that we can change our world
through love, this world is not a utopian world, it is hard to expect for everyone to be
good to you but by love we change it not just the world but also the people who lives
in it and I still believe that world is full of kind and good people and if you can’t find
any, be one just like what John Mayer wants to convey in his song.

3. What is the meaning of the song for you?

 For me the meaning of the song is that we keep on waiting to change the world we live
in but our system is so powerful that sometimes govern and overpower us. I believe
this song will serve as an eye opener that we should open our eyes to see the real
happenings in our society, ears to listen the opinion of others, and mouth to say our
rights to protect our society. My generation is the key and molder of the future, we
should be wise in choosing the officials that we are going to elect because they will
control and lead us in the end and don’t let the media to manipulate and influence you
to be blind in this society. We keep on waiting to change the world but we are doing
nothing to change it. Remember the saying of Mahatma Gandhi: “Be the change that
you wish to see in the world.” And it is not too late to change it for the better.
4. What is/are your favorite line/s?
But when you trust your television
What you get is what you got
Because when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want
 It is my favorite line because it reminds me the fake news that is happening to our
society. There are lot of news spreading in different kind of media platforms so we
should be aware of it and my advice is that check the site clearly or the source properly
if it is reliable or not. and there are people or sites/media that are bias. His song
describes how most people deal with problems in the world. When Mayer sings, "Me
and all my friends, we are all misunderstood, say we stand for nothing but there's no
way we ever could," he's talking about his generation and their lack of faith in the
government - all we can do is wait, and it seems like everyone is waiting for the world
to become a better place. We sit on our hands and watch as the government takes
control. Which is probably wrong.

5. How did it influence you?

 It influences me to be a better person in this society and to be involve in every issue
and it encourage me to use my voice to speak the truth for the change because each and
every one of us is oblige to do our purpose and task in this world. It also made me
realized that it is hard to change the world and we do not know if it is worth waiting
for but there are small ways to make the world a better place. We can make positive
changes for some individuals or even groups of people. Some of us can even make
changes in whole communities and societies. But we cannot change the world outright.
Everything that we have in the world today has been created by many generations of
people over a long period of time. A single person or a few people simply cannot make
global changes. Most important is this: if we want to change the world, we need to
change ourselves first that’s why society is directly proportional to the people who lives
in it or vice versa we should act and do the best things in this world to achieve it sooner.
In the end it influences me and made me remember the quote of Austin O. Malley
saying that “You can’t change the world but you can change the facts, when you change
the facts, you change the points of view, if you change the points of view, you may
change a vote. When you change a vote, you may change the world”. sometimes the
problem is always on the system that runs the people in the world. our world is
wonderful and so the people who live in it but the leaders sometimes are not and
manipulated. Be wise and be better
