What is the External Database Reference Manager?

What database types!
 Most database systems if the correct OLE DB
providers have been installed.

 For this class we will use an Access database

created from an Excel spreadsheet.
Excel to Access to Plant 3D and into the Iso
Spreadsheet containing typical data

Add custom properties to the project
 Add the following 13 properties as “String” •
properties to Pipe Line Segments: •

Create an Access Database from the Excel
Spreadsheet
Connect the database to the project

Map the PipeLines Class Properties
Existing or Virtual Properties?
 Existing Mapping
 The external database data is mapped to an
existing property in the project.

 Virtual Mapping
 The column in the external database table
does not become a property in the project
hierarchy; it will appear as a new property,
in the DM and can have a name that's
different from the external database column
name.
Open the Data Manager and Load the Mapped
Properties
Export the data as LDT.xls
Link the Isometric style to the LDT.xls
Place the LDT Attribues into the Iso Template
Generate an Isometric
Benefits?

 Verified data from a single source

 Less chance or error
 Less checking required
 Repeatability
 Faster modification
