developed me into a curiosity about the differences and similarities in the way people in these different places on the map lived. With time and travelling to places I didn’t consider directing this passion into a formal course of study but now strongly wish to do so. I am endlessly curious about the world and determined to learn as much as I can. Also, I have a unique background that has enabled me to have a fairly holistic view of many of the issues but lack the theoretical policy of framework. I have participated in community service organizations and I remember I was the kid that dragged in every stray cat or dog I came across – and I still do. That’s when I realised gradually that I have interest in the field of public service too. As said by Ralph Waldo Emerson, “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” I too believe that this holds true. If we work hard we can achieve anything. So few years back knowing that I am suffering from Dyslexia, I was quite shocked. This was perhaps one of the reasons I couldn’t do well in 11th grade. With the help of school teachers, my parents and additional benefits that are provided to specialised students I passed out from school with a decent percentage. But with this I realised that I am creative, hard working and good at problem solving. After completing 12th from one of the most prestigious schools of Delhi in 2015, I am currently pursuing History honours from Jesus and Mary College (Delhi University) which is probably one of the best decisions that i must have taken. Coming from co-ed school I never thought I will be able to adjust with girls and especially that too in a convent college. First day was quite miserable but slowly I became friends with many girls as well as the teachers. The teachers helped me throughout since my first day. However, I am doing quite good here and enjoying every bit of it. I have started gaining more interest in my current subject. During these years I tried participating in many of the activities that helped me to be outspoken and steadily cope up with my disability issues. I was also the Vice-President of Equal Opportunity Cell which worked for the disabled students and thereby encouraging them to participate more in college activities. I also, worked as a NSS volunteer and working with NGOs and spreading awareness about various problems that our country is facing. My ultimate aim is to become an I.A.S officer and for that I think studying of public policy or international affairs will be of great use. Another major reason on choosing public policy is seeing the conditions in my country like India for a long period of time now, poor people are exploited a lot. So I want to help in developing and advocating policy decisions that will benefit society as a whole and, not just a few influential special interest groups. I want to uncover the objective truth of issues and tackle them in the best interests of the nation. However, my faith in the political process began to wane as I witnessed sensible public policy proposals torn apart by partisan conflict. In order to succeed in my endeavours toward public service, I now realize that a master’s degree in public policy is essential. But as I said I love maps, people and love observing their lifestyle I can go for it too. I feel I am a strong candidate for your program and if given a chance I will prove myself. The reason for me to study at your university is that your university offers public policy program which is interdisciplinary in nature and incorporates within the issues of regulation and economics. Another very important aspect is that I will gain the most cutting edge knowledge in the sphere of public policy. I am confident that through receiving an advanced degree I will be able to create a successful career ahead. I believe that my solid educational background, my willingness and ability to tackle difficult problems, my strong sense of social responsibility and above all my boundless enthusiasm for the cause of community service shall make my candidacy suitable for the master’s program. I shall do my best not only to gain knowledge but also to maintain and contribute to the widely known excellence of your esteemed university.
