Country Profile

Situated at the center of the Indo-Chinese

Peninsula, Thailand's boarders extend from the
Indian Ocean on the western peninsular coast to
Myanmar in the north, Laos to the northwest across
the Mekong River, Cambodia to the southeast, and
Malaysia to the south.
As the primate city, Bangkok enjoys overwhelming
regional advantages.
The problem of over-concentration of Thai
population in Bangkok has long concerned
authorities, due to the large discrepancy in income
between urban and rural residents.
