A Detailed Lesson Plan in English

I. Objectives
At the end of the discussion, the students should be able to:
 Provide words that will best describe an object given by the teacher for vocabulary enrichment;
 identify the adjectives used in the given sentences;
 enumerate the correct order of adjectives; and
 create sentences using the proper order of adjectives
II. Subject Matter

Materials: Visual Aids
Three boxes with:
 crayon
 paper clips
 pencil

A. Preparation
1. Classroom Management

Good morning, class? Good morning, Ma’am!

Before we start, may I request everyone to (The students will rise and have the prayer)
please rise, bow our heads, and feel the
presence of the Lord.
(The teacher will lead the prayer)

Before you take your sit, kindly pick all


those pieces of papers under your chairs? (The students will pick all the mess)

2. Checking of Attendance

Is anybody absent in this class?

Ma’am, nobody is absent!

B. Review

Before we proceed to our new lesson and for the


benefit of those students who are absent
yesterday, let’s have first a review:

So, what was our lesson yesterday? Ma’am, yesterday we discussed about the parts of
speech focusing on the definition of noun and
adjective
Very good! We tackled about noun and adjective

What is noun? Noun is the name of person, place, thing, animal,


and event
Very good! Nouns are the names of person,
places, things, animals, and events.

What are the examples of noun? Ma’am, teacher

How about adjective? What is adjective? An adjective modifies a noun or pronoun
Very good. An adjective describes a noun or

C. Motivation

Oh! It seems that you were all ready for next .


lesson, but before that let’s have first an activity.
This activity is entitled “Pass that Mystery Box!”

Class, listen carefully for the instruction.

You will be given 3 mystery boxes which you


will pass to your seatmate with the
accompaniment of music. When the music stops,
the passing of the 3 mystery boxes will also stop.
The three lucky students who are holding the
boxes will have the opportunity to open it and
own it after finishing the task. Box 1

As you can see, there are three incomplete

D. Lesson Proper

Class, kindly read the sentences on the board. (The class will read the sentences)

So, what did you observe? Ma’am, in each sentence there is a noun.

So, what are the nouns in the sentences? Ma’am, Crayon, paper clips and pencil

What else? What did you observe in the Ma’am, I observed that there were adjectives used in
sentences? each sentence.
Okay. What are those adjectives? Let’s start with Small

How about in sentence 2 & 3? Two

Now, looking at the adjectives used in each Ma’am, there’s a series of adjectives in each
sentence, what did observe? sentence.

Very good observation! As you can see, there


were series of adjectives in the given sentences.

In the first sentence we have the adjectives one,


small and yellow.

Now, the word one is a number, am I right? Yes, ma’am!


How about small? Ma’am, small refers to size
How about yellow? Ma’am, yellow refers to color

So, in the first sentence, number, size and color


were used as adjective.

Class, remember that when you use series of


adjectives, be sure to follow its proper order.

These are the proper order of adjectives (The


teacher will post the visual aid on Order of
Adjectives)

So in the proper order of adjectives, we have first


the Number.
What are the examples of number? Ma’am, one.
Two
Three
So, in number we have one, two, three, and etc.
After the number, the quality or the characteristic
comes next.
What are the examples of qualities? Faithful
Great
awesome
Very good!
Next, we have size.
What are the examples of sizes? Small
Big
wide
Okay, next to size is the shape.
What are the examples of shapes? Round
Oval
square
Very good! We also have heart-shaped,
rectangle, and etc.
Next is age.
What are the examples of ages? Old
new
Yes! We also have young.
And lastly, we have color.
What are the examples of colors? Blue
Red
Green
Now, that you already know the proper order of
adjectives. I want you to check the second and
third sentences answered by your classmates
lately.

Is the proper order of adjectives correctly

How about this example:

Yesterday, I bought a small, pink, beautiful, new


hair brush.

Okay. The adjective beautiful belongs to quality.


How about small? Ma’am, size.
new? age.
pink? color.

Now, bring out a piece of paper and try to (The students will bring out a piece of paper and will

sentences:

IV. Generalization
To further assess your understanding of our
today’s lesson, you will be having a short quiz,
but before that let’s have first a recap. Ma’am, I learned that adjectives describe a noun

to follow when using two or more adjectives in a
sentence.

adjectives when using two or more adjectives in
describing a noun or pronoun.

So, what is the proper order of adjectives? Ma’am, Number, quality, size or shape, age, and
color.
Very good! We have first the number, followed
by the quality, then size or shape, age, and color.

V. Evaluation
Now, I want you to find your own partner. (the students will look their own partner)

With your partner, look at least 5 nouns inside


this room. Give a multiple description of each (the students will do the activity)
noun then, use it in a sentence. Be sure to follow
the proper order of adjectives.

VI. Assignment
For your assignment, look atleast 5 pictures
of the tourist spots in the province of
Pangsinan. Give a multiple descriptions of
each picture then, use it in a sentence.
Observe the proper order of adjectives.
Put the picture and your answer in a short
bond paper.
