Q. Outline employer responsibility.


A. The main health & safety responsibility of an employer are-
* Provide safe system of work- A place which is internally safe for Eg. Good ventilation &
illumination & means of safe access & Egress.
* Provide safe plant & equipment- by ensuring the equipments meet the required standard & it's
regular maintenance is carried out.
* Provide safe working environment with adequate welfare's facilities including first aid.
* Carry out the risk assessment-
To address the risk that might caused harm in the workplace taking step to eliminate as control
these risk.
Provide the safe system or work- Employer must introduced a SSW for safe conduct of all
activities these procedure should cover all foreseeable possibilities.
* Consulting with employees- Employer must consult employees health & safety issues
consultation must be either direct as through a Safety representative that is either elected by
workplace appointed by a trade union.
* Employer must give the information to his employees about risk in the workplace & how they
are protected also trained & instruct them on how to deal with the risk.
* Provide supervision- Employer have daily to provide competent supervision to ensure that
SSW is followed by the workers & no unsafe act or unsafe condition is created by them.
Provide PPE- Employer have duty to provide necessary adequate PPE & clothing to prevent risk
of an accident or of an advice effect of health.
Outline the issues that are typically included in the health and safety arrangements section of a
policy.
Answer- Arrangements section includes details the practical means of achieving the objectives
laid down in the policy statement. This section should identify a range of health and safety issues
for which arrangements should be in place. For example:
