To be a successful president you must
be a leader, someone who successfully
engages in statecraft (Political skill, pru-
dence, and opportunity), and the combi-
nation of power and wisdom for the
public good. That is why presidents must
campaign for the public’s approval.
Another skill the president must have is
to manage the media to generate sup-
port for his/her policies. The President
must be able to withstand criticism as
the press not only reports what the pres-
ident does but also anything he/she does
wrong.

Congress to help the president fulfill
his duties

CONGRESS
The President must work with con-
gress as The President exercises a
check over Congress through his
power to veto bills. Congress though,
can override the veto with a two-
thirds majority vote in each house.
The president may call either or both
houses into an emergency session and
Congress can limit what the president
can do in terms of
policy.
NATIONAL SECURITY POLICY
The president is the Commander in
Chief of the US. the president can in-
troduce the armed forces into hostile
situations only under 3 conditions:
1. Declaration of war
2. a law is passed by congress
3. National emergency created by an
attack upon the US, territories, or
armed forces.
