STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

My name is Deepshi Arora. I resides at Sangrur, Punjab. I was born on 08-NOV-2000. I have
Joint family. There are ten members in my family that is my Grandfather, Grandmother, my
parents uncle aunt and four siblings. My father is a Businessman, my mother is a homemaker,
my younger brother is studying in 11th standard.

EDUCATION BACKGROUND

I have completed my secondary education from Vasant valley Public School, Sangrur in
commerce stream in 2018. Both by matriculation as well as +2 were from the same school that is
affiliated to CBSE.

Why Diploma of Business Management

After completion of senior secondary in commerce, I have two options either to go for
accountancy or business management. I can opt for Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of
Business Administration. Since, I wanted to be careful and do not want to commit any mistake
related to my career, hence I did extensive research on the career options available in the area. I
found if I opt for B.Com, I need to complete CA that would take at least five years after three
years bachelor degree before I can expect good job and returns. Else after B.com my salary is
going to be in the range of 8-12 thousand per month and even opportunities are less. On the other
hand there is ample of opportunities for supervisors and managers. During this research, I found
that Ludhiana and Jalandhar – two of the major cities adjoining my hometown hold many
opportunities. Both the cities are industrial, medical and educational hub of the northern part of
the country. The major industries are sports, leather, garments and hand tools. In all these
industries there is no dearth of labor and technical staff but there is great shortage of skilled
supervisors and managers to supervise the staff for effective manpower handling. Since, most of
these industries are supplying the goods to other states and even export them to other countries,
there is great need of the managers who can handle not only the staff but also communicate with
the foreign clients in effective way. Considering such a great scope of the management sector, I
have decided to have a career in management. This made me to choose Diploma of business
management from Douglas College. The course not only has wider scope as compared to
Accounting but the returns are also very high.

Course Benefits

During this course I will learn about How to manage different aspects of business like business
documents, design & development, quality customer service, personal work priorities, risk,
meetings, recruitment, selection and induction process etc. I will also be taught about how to
develop media as well as marketing plans, organizational marketing objectives, advertising
campaign and ensure safe workplace. In other words, I will learn how to manage and develop
different aspects of the business independently in the global environment. The course will teach
me how to manage the documents and ensure quality at work place and achieve high customer
satisfaction levels. I learn how to prioritize the tasks and mitigate the risks. I will also be
enlightened with the recruitment and induction process of the new employees. Course will give
me insight into developing the marketing plans to expand the business

These skills will help me to start my career as senior executive or administrative in almost all
types of business. There are many organization’s in my area like Jagjit Industries, GB Tools,
Nivea, Spartan. In addition to these manufacturing industries, I can even get the job in retail
sector – like Bharti Wallmart, Metro and Reliance Mart as a supervisor with good remuneration.

After completion of the course, I plan to come back to India and try my hands on getting the job
in the companies I have mentioned in the previous paragraph. I am very sure that the
international qualification and exposure will give me an edge over my competitors and assist me
to secure high paying jobs in the renowned organizations with a great ease.

WHY NOT INDIA:-

Undoubtedly, number of public and private sector institutes offer these course in India. However,
there is no use of having degree from the local institute. You can expect to get skills and good
paying job only if you have graduated from renowned B-schools like IIM – Ahmedabad, IIM
Bangalore, Xavier School of Management Jameshdpur, SP Jain Institute of Management and
Research Mumbai, Symbiosis institute of Management Pune, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade
New Delhi. However the irony is that due to high competition, reservations policy and high cut
offs, it is very difficult to secure admission in these institutes. As you need to move out of your
home the cost is almost the same as studying in other country. Further there is huge gap in what
is taught in the educational institutes and industry standards that makes it difficult to secure the
job.

WHY CANADA:-

Though Canada was not in my list, I was more inclined towards the USA and Australia On the
other hand, unlike India, education from western world not only offer quality education but stress
is laid on learning the concepts rather than cramming the theories. This system of education
bring the best out of the student and help him to develop the problem solving skills and makes
the smooth transition possible from the student to an efficient employee.

Though Australia offers the quality education at a lower cost than Canada but recent problems
faced by new students forced me to look toward Canada.

Moreover, Canada has become a better study option for all the international students by
facilitating good international exposure, a diverse cultural interaction and a strong statement for
one’s CV. The country boasts of a number of high ranking universities in the world offering a
number of high quality popular courses. Foreign students mean good income for the
government; hence the latter takes keen interest in education sector of the nation. Therefore,
we expect good governance for these institutes of higher learning. With my student visa, I
would also be able to work part time and earn, depending on what kind of job it is. I may also
work full time during vacations and earn some more. This extra money can help me save and
also take care of my living expenses to some extent. Rest All the expenses regarding my
education fee, living expenses and other expenses can be easily covered by my family members.
My family has always supported me as pillar to my decision and my career.

Above all, it is a beautiful country, so once in a while you can take a break and travel to all the
beach destinations that Australia is so famous for. The country has a strong Asian community
presence so I don’t think I will ever miss speaking my mother tongue or eating familiar food.

OPPORTUNITY IN INDIA:-

I am planning to complete my bachelor’s degree after my diploma and on return would try to
seek a job in my region. As stated earlier there are number of multinational companies in the area
where I live. In addition, the liberal policies of the government on Foreign Direct Investment is
inviting many foreign brands to open their ventures in India. The successful completion of these
course will assist me to easily get hired in the supervisory positions in these companies like
Bharti Wallmart, GB tools, Jagjit Industries, Nivea Sports, Syndicate sports etc. I can easily get
the positions such as Sales Manager, Marketing Manager, Client Support Executive in the long
run can expect to become a HR Manager, Purchase manger, Business Development Officer in
any of the renowned business establishment with high remuneration.

WHY CHOOSE THIS COLLEGE:-

After I decided to choose Canada as my study destination, I was bombarded with number of
options. WRITE ABOUT SOME GOOD COLLEGES HERE. That is why I decided to first go
for Diploma in this college and later on complete my bachelor from some university. Apart from
the recommendation of my consultant, I have got good reviews. The staff of Douglas College is
well qualified. Curriculum is up to-date and meets the industry requirements. In addition, college
offer excellent student support services that include welfare and learning support. Further it is
situated within the city limits.
