The United States is the world's leading power, this is measure according to GDP,
and China has the second place in this category. It is highlight that China is the
number one country in the world in exports and second in imports after the United
States, it has a surplus unlike the American country, in other words, it is consider the
number one country in trade in the world. So, why is not China the world's leading
economic power?
The United States had a GDP of 18.57 million dollars (2016) according to the World
Bank data, of this GDP, per capita GDP was 57,466.79 USD (2016), this indicator
reveals that the more takeover for the population more consumption, in this order of
ideas, the quality of life of people in this country is good and consumption is higher.
China had a GDP of 11.2 trillion USD in 2016 according to the World Bank, its per
capita GDP was USD 8,123.18 in 2016, and these data show that the quality of life
of China's population is lower compared to the American country, China is a leader
in trade, and its domestic consumption is not as high as that of the United States.
For this reason, China is working on its fourth stage of economic growth where 500
million people have come out of poverty with the strategies of their phases but China
has an approximate population of 1.3 billion people so its process is not so fast as
you want; its strategies employed since 1980 have been very useful but certain
investments have resulted in indebtedness, for this reason its economy has stable
or static lags and not increasing in greater proportion.
The vision of China with the economic growth phases is to become the first economic
world power surpassing the United States, this between 2020 and 2025. The main
objective is to improve the quality of life of the population with the increase in GDP
per capita through the different strategies of each stage.
Currently, there is the fourth stage, which consists of reducing corruption, which is
fundamental for success in changing the model. Implement multiple tools such as
the reform process, which can boost the economy through environmental protection
policies and the development of clean energy, the urbanization process that must
accommodate more than 100 million people in cities before 2020, the rebalancing of
income distribution that will increase consumption and the modernization of
agriculture and industry. It is also consider necessary to carry out reforms in the
financial sector.
The economic objective is to establish a moderately prosperous society in 2021,
although the financial risk derived from the growth of the debt can jeopardize this
objective, which includes doubling the income that year with respect to 2010.
