Technology Class
Expectations
Classroom Rules

1. Be in your seat and ready to start class at the beginning of each class period.
2. Write our daily class agenda in your agenda book at the beginning of the period.
3. Bring all required materials with you to class.
4. Turn in all assignments by the assigned due date and time.
5. Show respect for yourself, others, and lab equipment at all times.

Assignments and Homework Policy

Note to parents and students:

Most technology class assignments will be completed in class. Completing assignments in class
allows me to see what each individual student is able to complete with ease as well as what
individual students are struggling with. This valuable information allows me to plan enrichment
and intervention activities for the students based on their specific abilities and needs. If a student
needs additional time to complete in class work, it is their responsibility to see me to schedule
after school lab time prior to the due date of the assignment. Therefore, homework will be at a
minimum. When homework is assigned, the policy below will be enforced.

All assignments are to be completed, attached, and submitted by the day and time in which they
are due. “Late work” is defined as any of the following:
• An incomplete assignment (an assignment not fully completed)
• An assignment left in a student’s locker, home, on the bus, not submitted, etc.
• An assignment that was not attached or submitted correctly
• A lost assignment

Assignments that are considered “late”:

• Will receive a reduction in grade as long as the assignment is completed and turned in
by 8:10am the next day
• May not be accepted if the assignment was graded in class on the due date
Typing Tests

The students will be completing graded typing tests four times each quarter. These tests will be
graded for both speed and accuracy without looking at the keyboard. It is the expectation in the
8 grade technology classroom that 30 words per minute with no errors would be a perfect
th

score. Students will be afforded the opportunity to practice for these tests, but are expected to
practice on their own time. Students may schedule after school lab time to practice as needed.

Microsoft Office and Other Projects

Basic typing skills, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Google Applications are taught prior
to eighth grade. We will continue work with each of these applications as well as adding specific
instruction in PowerPoint, Prezi, Google Slides, and Internet and Media Safety. We will have
graded assignments using each of these applications as well as other web based software that will
be introduced in class. In addition, we will also be working with the other eighth grade classes
on various projects and assignments throughout the year.

Please complete the Google Form found in Google Classroom and submit to Ms. Myers by
Friday! You will not be permitted to participate in class until this sheet is submitted. I am
