    Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) works by applying magnetic fields to atomic nuclei and detecting the electromagnetic signals emitted as the nuclei relax back to equilibrium. NMR spectra provide information about the chemical environment and atomic structure of molecules by detecting small variations in energy levels of nuclei placed in magnetic fields. The NMR equipment consists of a magnet that immerses the sample, a console that controls the experiment and receives the data, and a PC to input experiment variables and analyze the resulting NMR spectra.
