Exercise#1

A school pays a monthly salary to its employees, which consists of


basic salary, allowances and deductions. The details of allowances and
deductions are as follows:
a. HRA is 30% of basic
b. DA is 20% of basic
c. Conveyance allowance is-
i. Rs. 500/-, if basic is less than or equal to Rs. 10000/-
ii. Rs. 750/-, if basic is greater than Rs. 10000/- and less than
Rs. 20000/-
iii. Rs. 1000/-, if basic is greater than rs.20000/-
d. Entertainment allowance is-
i. Rs. 500/-, if basic is less than or equal to Rs. 10000/-
ii. Rs. 1000/-, if basic is greater than Rs. 10000/-
e. PF deduction is 6% of basic
f. IT deduction is 15% of the basic
g. Calculate the following:
i. Gross salary=Basic+HRA+DA+Conveyance+entertainment
ii. Deduction= PF+IT
iii. Net Salary= Gross salary- deduction

Make a salary table and calculate the net salary of the employees. Your fields
may be:

Teacher name, Basic_salary, HRA, DA, Conveyance Allowance, Entertainment


Allowance, Gross salary, PF, IT Deduction,Netsalary.

Solution: -
1. HRA: - =B2*30%
2. DA: - =B2*20%
3. CA: - =IF (B2<=10000,500, IF(B2<=20000,750,1000))
4. EA: - =IF(B2<=10000,500,1000)
5. PF: - =B2*6%
6. IT: - =B2*15%
7. GROSS SALARY: - =SUM (B2:F2)
8. DEDUCTION: - =SUM (G2, H2)
9. NET SALARY: - =I2-J2

Exercise#2
The following table gives year-wise sale figure of five salesmen in
Rs.

a. Calculate total sale year wise


b. Calculate the net sales made by each salesman
c. Calculate the commission for each salesman-If total sales is
greater than Rs.1,00,000/-, then commission is 5% of total
sales made by the salesman. Else it is 2% of total sale.
d. Calculate the maximum sale made by each salesman.
e. Calculate the maximum sale made by each year.
f. Draw a bar graph representing the sale made by each
salesman.
g. Draw a pie graph representing the sales made by salesman
in year 2013.
Solution: -

1. Commission:- =IF(B2>=100000,B2*5%,B2*2%)
2. Max sale:- =MAX(B2:E2)
3. Max sale year wise:- =MAX(B2:B21)

Exercise#3
Make a sheet of 10 students with 05 subjects having the fields:
Name, English, Hindi, Science, Maths, Computer, Total_marks,
Average _marks, percentage, Grade.

Calculate the followings:

1. Total Marks of each student


2. Average marks of each student
3. Percentage
4. Grade on the basis of following details:
If scores is Then return
Greater than 89 A
From 80 to 89 B
From 70 to 79 C
From 60 to 69 D
Less than 60 F

1. Average: -=AVERAGE(B2:F2)
2. Percentage: -=G2/500
