Fundamentals and Safety Measures in Physics and Chemistry Laboratories (FSMPCL)

Preamble: Participants upon completion of the
programme will be able to understand how to handle
solutions, solvents, basic instruments and equipments in
both Chemistry and Physics laboratories. They will also
be able to appropriate the maintenance and safety
measures at workplace in the laboratory. Participants will
be able to improve the science learning goals of laboratory
experiences include enhancing mastery of science subject
matter, developing scientific reasoning abilities,
increasing understanding of the complexity and ambiguity
of empirical work, developing practical skills, increasing
understanding of the nature of science learning, and
improving teamwork abilities. It is expected that the
participants will adopt laboratory experiences will be
more likely to achieve these goals if they (1) are designed
with clear learning outcomes in mind, (2) are thoughtfully
sequenced into the flow of classroom science instruction,
(3) enhance the laboratory skills, and (4) incorporate
ongoing discussion.
Themes of the workshop:
 Safety with chemicals and solvents
 Maintenance of instruments and equipments
 Fundamentals of laboratory experiments and basic
instrumentation
Hands on experience on few basic experiments
Eligibility:
The programme is open to the Undergraduate students
(Diploma, DED, B. Sc. & B. Tech.) and non-teaching
faculty of all disciplines of Science and Engineering
colleges.
