PERCEPTION TOWARDS ARCHITECTURE WITH RESPECT TO TIME
AIM :
To study the impact of time over the architectural character of the
buildings in both architect’s view and common public’s view.
OBJECTIVE:
This study analyses how the fourth dimension of space i.e.,time
influences the perception towards particular building in the general term called ‘change’. Thus it aims to analyse various types of changes that occur over time which in turn reflected as a new style in architecture. The change not only affects the physical character of the building, but also the psychological approach of the users and the critics. It also attempts to study the metaphysical characters of the architecture that reinforces the time.
SCOPE:
In this era of 21st century ,many architecture lack in the perceivance
of time as they are either a replica of the past or irrelevant to the present. Imitating a past style or integrating a non-contextual style may never result in an alive architecture. The scope of this study is to do architecture with the consideration of time to understand it better and also for better utilisation of the spaces and character of the buildings.
LIMITATIONS:
1.The forces of change that influences architecture under time
may be limited to age, societal and material trends. 2.The character of timelessness reflected in physical and psychological aspects of a building.
3.Metaphysical aspects of architecture related to time such as
nature,memory and light.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:
1. To study the influence of change by age,an
experience of an user over a particular building in various stages of his life is going to be dealt. 2. To study the influence of societal change,a case study of a years old building in a public area is to be selected and the perception of the passers-by towards the change is to be studied. 3. To study the changes due to material trends, the release of new materials, their impact on buildings over time and the consecutive perception of the observers is to be studied. 4. Comparing the characters of iconic buildings with any other building of same context to study the essence of timelessness in its physical and psychological aspects. 5. To understand the metaphysics in architecture, case studies of sensible buildings are to be studied. 6. To conclude with the average perception over the buildings that can be used in the process of synthesis of design with respect to the above mentioned criteria.
