Geometry

 Design the geometry by following the steps below:

Step 1:

Step 2

 Create surfaces from sketches.

Meshing of the geometry

Step 3

 Do edge sizing following these steps:

 Put a bias of about 20 downside.

NB: The behaviour of all edge sizing should be changed from soft to hard.

 75 divisions and no bias

 1000 divisions and no bias

E. Zingapeta CFD Workshop 2018
 About 2025 divisions no bias.

 About 340 divisions no bias.

 Part of Mesh should look like this after following the above steps.

Step 4

 Do Face meshing as follows:

Step 5

 Refining the mesh.

 Go back to the design modeller and sketch this:

E. Zingapeta CFD Workshop 2018
 Do a FaceSplit

 Target body is the whole surface and tool Geometry is the sketched line.

 Do the same FaceSplit with the horizontal line.

 The part in green becomes the target body.

 Results into three bodies created:

Step 6

 Update the geometry under mesh and fix these errors.

 Do a face meshing for all the three faces.

 If the behaviour of the edge sizing is set to soft this will be the resulting mesh:

 After Changing the behaviour to hard this will be the resulting mesh:

Step 7

 Name the edges as follows:

 Inlet
 Outlet
 Lower_Wall
 Upper_Wall

 Update and save the project.

Step 8

 Setting up the physics.
