Last week the Student Council successfully opened the Hannah P (R2, Year 6)
new equipment in the Adventure Playground. Thank you Ben Ripley (R7, Year 6)
very much to the School Community Group who provided Ben Watts (R7, Year 6)
and installed the equipment. Thanks also to Christine and Special recognition: Maya S (R17): For passing
the Student Council who organised the opening ceremony. with distinction in her Grade 1 Violin exam!
Soon we will be opening the new ball wall and the ‘Jungle’ Term events
area between the slide and the bike cage. 5 Nov Year 6 road ride to Nelson Intermediate

This week’s writing samples come from our youngest 11 Nov NIS powhiri/school tour for new students
writers – our five year old children. You will notice the 12 Nov Regional Football Tournament
difference in what new five year olds can do when 17 Nov BOT meeting
compared with the efforts of older five year olds. Yes, 22 Nov NIS Extension Class testing
even a few months makes a big difference! 23 Nov Inter-school athletics

Guy Fawkes 1 Dec Nelson Intermediate Road Show
On 5th of November it was Guy Fawkes. Guy was naughty. 7 Dec BOT meeting
He got some gun powder. He wanted to shoot King James. 10 Dec Summit Club tramp to Mt Arthur
He got caught. Now we will celebrate. (Ruby, aged 5 years

Terms and dates for 2011
On 5th of November it was Guy Fawkes night and I made

On Friday me and mum also dad and Zoe celebrated Guy Term 3 starts Monday 1 August
Fawkes. We set our fireworks on our lawn. Guy Fawkes is Term 3 finishes Friday 7 October
on the fifth of November. I love Guy Fawkes. (Theo, aged Term 4 starts Tuesday 25 October
5 years, R12) Term 4 finishes Tuesday 20 December
A re-telling of an old favourite Public Holidays during Term Time
Once upon a time there were 3 Billy Goats Gruff. They Queen’s Birthday 6 June (Monday)
were very hungry but there was a bad troll under the
bridge. The little goat crossed the bridge. The troll said, Dr Paul Potaka
“Who’s that trip trapping over my bridge?” Then the other PRINCIPAL
one crossed it. The troll didn’t notice. Then the biggest one
crossed it. The troll noticed but he butted him into the Room 1
river. Splash went the troll. He shouted and shouted.

Last Wednesday was our great Air Guitar challenge. Have

Nelson Int er-School Tennis Tourna ment 2010

Last Wednesday a number of pupils from Nelson


Central School attended the Nelson Inter-School Tennis
Tournament. Boys played at Tas man Tennis Centre ,
Richmond and girls played at Nelson Lawns Tennis
Club.
All players played a minimum of 3 games against year
5/6 players from the Nelson region.

on their wonderful
sportsmanship and great
effort.

LOST SCOOTER
Last seen on Friday 5th November in the bike cage. The To Hannah P and Ella M (R 2) for their

TENNIS - Grasshoppers Tennis Tournament being Hardball Cricket Reports
held at the Nelson Lawn Tennis Club on Saturday Here are the last two weeks' worth of roundup for the
20th November from 12.30-2.30pm. There are 3 hardball team.
Grasshoppers Tennis Levels, and no previous tennis 30 October
experience is required. Cost $10 and you need to Nelson Central v Henley
