c) Participate in class discussion, and with a mastery level of 95%.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Angles Formed when Parallel Lines cut by a Transversal Line

Subject integration: TLE
Value Focus: Accuracy

III. PROCEDURE
Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. ACTIVITY
1. Preliminary Activities
a. Prayer
Before we start, everybody stand up for a prayer.
The in-charge for today’s prayer, please lead the
class.

b. Greetings
Good morning, class. Good morning, ma’am.

c. Checking of Attendance
Class monitor, kindly check the attendance.

2. Review
What was our topic last meeting?
Last meeting our topic was about exterior
angle inequality theorem.
Exactly.
What is the concept of an exterior inequality
theorem? Exterior inequality theorem states that the
measure of an exterior angle of a triangle
is greater than the measure of either
remote interior angle.
Very good.
Now, we are already through with the triangle
inequality theorem.

Do you have any questions?

None, ma’am.
So, we will now proceed to our next topic.

3. Motivation
I have here a picture that will help us understand our
new lesson.

Optical Illusion:
(picture)
Questions:
Can you see straight lines in the picture?
Yes, ma’am.
Do these lines meet/intersect?
No, ma’am.
Are these lines parallel? Why?
Yes, because the lines do not intersect
with each other.
4. Statement of the Aim
This morning our new lesson is about Angles formed
when Parallel lines cut by a Transversal line. At the
end of math lesson, you are expected to: a) define
parallel line and transversal line; b) identify the
angles formed when parallel lines cut by a
transversal line; and c) participate in class discussion,
and with a mastery level of 95%.

B. ANALYSIS
1. Discussion
Based from what we have done a while ago, how
would you define parallel lines?
Parallel lines are lines that do not meet or
Very good. intersect each other.

For example, we have line m and n.

Are they parallel or not?

Correct. Line m and n are parallel.

Parallel lines are usually denoted as m//n or line m is
parallel to line n.

If we draw another line that intersect line m and n

which is line t.

What do we call this line t that intersects two

parallel lines?
It is a transversal line.
Yes, very good.

Based from our figure, what is a transversal line?

Transversal is a line that intersects two or

Very good. more lines.
So, from the figure, there were angles that were
formed, right?

Now, how many angles formed when parallel lines Yes, ma’am.
cut by a transversal line?

Correct. There are 8 angles formed.

If I name these angles as,
t

A B
m
C D

E F
n
G H

What angles are in between two parallel lines?

If angles C, D, E and F are in between or inside two

parallel lines, what do we call these angles? Angles C, D, E and F.

Correct.
Interior angles
Where can we find interior angles?

What are the angles above parallel lines?

How about the angles below the parallel lines?

between two parallel lines.
If angles A and B are angles above the parallel lines
and angles G and H are below parallel lines, this Angle A and B
means that these angles lie outside the parallel lines.
Angle G and H
What do you call those angles lie outside the parallel
lines?

Very good.

If angle C, D, E and F are called interior angles, what

do we call angle C and F that lie on different side of
the transversal line? Exterior angles

Aside from angle C and F which are the alternate

interior angles, what are the other pair of alternate
interior angles?
How about angle A and H? Alternate interior angles

Do they lie on the same side of transversal line?

Angle D and E
If these angles lie on the different side of the
transversal line and outside the two parallel lines,
what do you call those angles?
Exterior angles
Correct.
No, ma’am.
What are the other alternate exterior angles?

How about angle C and A?

Alternate exterior angles

Very good.

Do they lie on the same side of transversal line?

Angle B and G
So, if one is interior angle and the other is exterior
angle but they lie on the same side of transversal
line, corresponding angles. Angle C is an interior angle and angle A is
an exterior angle.
Except from angle C and A, what are the other
corresponding angles?

There’s more? Yes, ma’am.

C. ABSTRACTION

Based from what we have discussed, what are the

different angles formed when parallel lines cut by a
transversal line?
Angle A and E, angle B and F, and angle D
and H

What do you call angles that lie between the parallel

lines? None, ma’am.

How about an angle formed outside the two parallel

lines?
Interior angle
What about the pair of interior angles that is on the Exterior angle
opposite side of a transversal line?? Alternate interior angles
Alternate exterior angles
How about pair of exterior angles that is on the opposite Corresponding angles
side of transversal line?
Interior angle
What is a pair of angle which one is an interior angle and
the other one is an exterior angle and they lie on the
same side of transversal line? Exterior angle

D. APPLICATION
Alternate interior angles
Group yourselves according to your row. I need 5
groups.
Alternate exterior angles
Each group will complete each table:

1st group: interior angles

2nd group: exterior angles Corresponding angles
3rd group: alternate interior angles
4th group: alternate exterior angles
5th group: corresponding angles

1 2

3 4

5 6

Complete the Table using the figure above:
