Benny Zlotnick for Supervisor

Barbara Kerr Town Council

Ryan Isachsen for Town Council

My Fellow Republican,

I am writing to you with the help of my running mates Barbara Kerr and Ryan Isachsen. We are lifelong
Republicans with 114 years collectively in our Party. Our history would seem to demonstrate loyalty, but
we will no doubt be attacked in the coming months, just as we were in the primary. They’ll say we are
outsiders, “Name Only Republicans” and probably much worse; all because we challenged the GOP
Committee’s endorsed candidates. Before the mudslinging begins again, we wanted to tell you why we
believe it has come to this and what we really stand for.

For some time, Barb and I have attempted to fix what we think to be a disconnect between our
constituents’ needs and our town’s decisions in Milton. We’ve asked questions and attempted to put all
residents first by voting our conscience. Because of that we have been marginalized, attacked and in some
cases ridiculed. Our commitment to the truth, over toeing the establishment’s line, has put us at odds
with the powers that be. It is also why we did not receive the endorsement. But it is our participation
and voice that has kept the ship sailing straight in our town. The follow the leader attitude that currently
prevails, which gives one person’s vote the weight of three, whether through apathy or party patronage,
has not served the town well. If we lose in November, that voice will be silenced.

We’ve faced this situation before: a lost endorsement and having to run without any help from our party.
And yet victory still came. But times have changed and because of the national rhetoric we seem to be
talking more and listening less to folks on the other side of the aisle. That is frustrating on a global stage,
but on a local one, it’s downright dangerous. Our issues affect our neighbors and when someone asks us
to fix something, we refuse to question, “What party do you belong to?”, before we try to solve the
problem. We believe local politics is about you and we have confidence in the words of John F. Kennedy,
“Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer but the right answer.”

Our commitment to the right answer is why we have sought to unite different voters from various parties
together with our own independent line, Moving Milton Forward. Neighbors with other neighbors bound
together by our common goal of making Milton better, stronger, and more of what we all want it to be
for ourselves and our families. That is our driving objective and our solemn oath to you. We won’t reduce
our town to a “them versus us” mentality. It’s just not who we are or what we believe makes Milton
special. Regardless of who you support in the November elections, you remain our biggest concern. We
have fought arm and arm for many of the same things, shared laughs and heartache, celebrated our
triumphs and mourned our losses and we will not abandon you. And we hope when this is over, you
won’t abandon us either.

In Solidarity,
