President, Esophageal Cancer Awareness
Association Boston

R honda Small is the board and president of the

Esophageal Cancer Awareness Association for
over 8 years, improving visibility beyond the United
States for this disease. Esophageal Cancer Awareness
Association are in the Canadian, Australian and
some European countries, but would like to expand
worldwide for awareness and patient support.
Her husband had esophageal cancer and passed
away in 2008. She have taken over the operation of
his businesses including several Harley Davidson
dealerships, an airport and other entities.
She is in close communication with local
gastroenterologists, thoracic surgeons and community
leaders to bring this cancer out of the ‘rare’ catagory
and into more broad awareness.
One of her goals is to reach out to gastroenterologists
all over the world to help us help these patients, assist
in earlier diagnosis and better patient outcomes.
She have been a speaker several times before the FDA,
and try to reach out to as many entities as possible to
raise awareness for esophageal cancer.

D r Laeeque Ahmed, MBBS, FCPS, M.Phil; a

post graduate fellow of college of physicians
and surgeonsPakistan. He acquired his fellowship in
internal medicine and completedspecialized training
in gastroenterology.
Dr Laeeque started his clinical practice as an
“Assistant Professor Medicine and Consultant
Gastroenterologist” in the year 2005.
For the last seven years,he is workingatKing Abdullah
Medical Cityand research centerMakkah Saudi Arabia,
the largest tertiary and quaternary care center of the
region that recently get accreditation with “association
for the accreditation of human research protection
programs”, Inc. (AAHRPP).
His main areas of practice are advanced therapeutic GI
endoscopy for critically ill patients and management
of viral hepatitis.
He has published various articles and case reports
in peer reviewed journals. He is actively involved
in medical research, transforming his skills to his
junior fellows and keeping himself academically and
practically updated.

Tract Ultrasound & Diagnostic as well Therapeutic
Interventional Sonography. He is the Pioneer of
Gastro-Intestinal Tract Sonography, especially Gastro-
Duodenal Sonography. He has delivered many Guest
Lectures in Indian as well International Conferences
in nearly 27 countries as an Invited Guest Faculty,
since March 2000. He is a Consultant Radiologist &
the Specialist in Conventional as well Unconventional
Gastro-Intestinal Tract Ultrasound & Diagnostic as well

President, Hepatitis Foundation of Ghana

T heobald Owusu-Ansah is President of the

Hepatitis Foundation of Ghana, and the Hepatitis
Coalition of Ghana, as well as being a Board Member
at the National Association of Hepatitis Task Force in
the USA. In addition, he is member of Patient Advisory
Council of the Hepatitis Foundation International,
Scientific Advisor of the Focus Scientific Research
Centre. He is former Regional Board member,
representing Africa, at the World Hepatitis Alliance
(WHA).
Theobald has a passion and commitment to the
eradication of human suffering and lack of unbiased
information and support available to Hepatitis patients
in Africa and Ghana. As a result, he founded the
Hepatitis Foundation of Ghana in 2007 to champion
the cause of carriers of the hepatitis virus in Ghana
and beyond.
To coordinate activities of NGO’s working in the
field of viral hepatitis in Ghana, in 2013 He created
Hepatitis Coalition of Ghana. Theobald has written
six articles online publications on viral hepatitis and
also involved in Hepatitis Research in Africa. He
works with Hepatitis Patients, Government, Health
care Professionals and general public.
