Pattern modification process
1. Carp age is used to fill the crack in the pattern.
2.Champion sheet is used to increase the thickness of the pattern .It is available in the size of
1mm,3mm,5mm.
3. Thermocol is used to make pattern which will be used for making 2/3 casting.
4. Wooden patterns are used to make more than 8 casting.
Allowances:
CI-1% allowance
Nonferrous -1.5% allowance
AL, Steel -2% allowances

In this process they use a pneumatically operated hand grinder having pointed cutter tool
attached to it.

1. Time study of ladle lining of 4 ton ladle.
(Ladle lining –for removal of excess material inside the ladle and to maintain capacity of ladle.)
In this process they apply mixture of WHYTHEAT and Water on the inner surface of ladle.

1. Tapping Operation, Boring, Drilling operation
Tapping operation –This operation is used to create internal thread in the drilled hole.
Boring operation –This operation is used to enlarge the drilled hole up to required
dimensions.
Drilling operation –In this operation drill bits of sizes ranges from 17.5,18,21,25,27 are
used to drill hole in the Vertical pump stool.
2. Go and No Go gauge for checking proper tapping.

1. Shop No.2 pattern arrangement.
2. Fettling –
The casting as obtain from mould are not fit for immediate use as they carry unwanted
metal attached in the form of gates & risers. Sand particles also tend to adhere to the
surface of the casting.
In fettling section the unnecessary projections are cut off, the adhering sand was
removed.
