Mini Spares is famous for its research and selection of radiators, namely the special two and four core varieties, plus the standard fitment items. All are well manufactured and competitively
priced. True Kevlar stranded and silicon type hoses with a 2 year guarantee, plus the radiator cowlings and fitting brackets are also stocked along with expansion tanks and electric fans. The
alloy water pumps with a 3 year guarantee are of exceptional quality and price. Thermostats, sandwich plates and covers plus all fittings are kept in stock. Mini Spares has its own make of
heater valves and control cables plus heater unit matrix. Oil coolers, pipes and all associated parts are also available.

Electrics & Lighting
Mini Spares has many lamps from the original Mini tooling and Mini Spares’ own tooling to ensure all saloon lighting is available. Lamp lens, gaskets and fittings are available for most of the lamps
stocked. Headlamps and spot lamps, bezels, bulbs and holders can also be found at Mini Spares. All major alternator, dynamo and starter components plus upgraded units are available, as new
and outright sales. A few years back Mini owners suffered a lot of breakdowns from cheap imported electrical components failing, but we have our own unique range of coils, condensers, rotor
arms and distributors which have been set correctly. Popular wiring looms and cables, horns, flasher units, relays, central locking kits, plus switches and stalks are held in stock.

Grilles and Brightwork


When it comes to being bright, Mini Spares Ltd really is, with its range of Mini brightwork and less-drag wiper blades that really clear the screen. Pianoforte Supplies in Northampton made
almost every body finishing part for the Mini, but by 1979 it had scrapped the tooling for many Mk1 parts, including grilles and then closed completely some years later. Mini Spares once again
came to the rescue and with some original drawings and foresight the company ended up making all the parts required to keep these cars looking correct. Nowadays nearly all the trim,
mouldings, grilles, grille surrounds, stainless steel bumpers and overiders from 1959-2000 are made from Mini Spares’ own tooling.

Oxford on a 60 Mini/MINI cavalcade from the Oxford
Mini Plant to a local car show. It’s taking place on bank

launch! The cavalcade will follow a 6 mile route, the
first half of which will follow the route which

QWhen James Martin’s older brother,
Shane, asked him what car he’d like to
drive when he is old enough, James
expressed an interest in the classic Mini
(taking some inspiration from Mr Bean!).
Shane is a classic car enthusiast, so took
it upon himself to find him a Mini shell
that he could restore with James.
The Mini has been restored front to

autism). He has made all of the decisions

Name: Lee Williams fleet - it’s come a long way.
Car: 1981 Minivan
Location: Shipston-on-Stour
Q Lee bought his van a few years back from a
gentleman in Wales who had inherited it from his dad
(who took the van as part of his retirement package
from the London Electricity Board). It has had a drastic
makeover, but they are just finishing off the last few
bits! The van has had an engine rebuild and all of the
welding and painting was carried out by Lee’s brother.
The arches are Miglias and the wheels are OS4 turbo
rims. Interior trim is black leather, and the factory rear
seats are soon to be sporting bespoke covers of their
own. Lee reckons the van will be finished within four
weeks, so keep an eye out for it at shows this summer.

SUPER COOPER
Name: Tony Maulder
Car: 1964 MkI Mini Cooper Even 25 years after its
Location: Milford, Auckland resto, the Cooper is
still winning prizes.
QTony bought his Cooper in the
early 1980s. It was complete, but
everything inside the car was in bits.
It had a thorough and very
expensive restoration in 1993, and
now 25 years after being restored,
it’s still in excellent condition. Tony
gave it a cut and polish, took all the
interior out and cleaned it, fixed the
paint chips and touched up the
paintwork in the boot and engine.
The son of the first owner of the
Cooper, Blair Robson, made a name
for himself and the car, by winning
the Auckland Car Club 1967
Midnight Madness road rally.
Tony has owned many Minis over
the years, including a Morris Mini
850. He entered the Cooper in the
2008 NZ Mini Nationals and claimed
2nd place in the restored class and
2nd overall. He takes his Cooper to
car shows and for a 14 mile drive to
the seaside every weekend.

their Mini 35 for 10 years. Five years
ago, he decided the time had come
to do a full nut and bolt resto on it.
All of the body work, welding and
panel work has been completed by
Jeff and there is not a spot of rust to
be seen. After five years of labour,
the build is finally complete.
The resto included fitting a Bill
Richards 1330 stage 4 fast road
engine (lightened and balanced
bottom end, AE pistons, 1.5 Titan
roller rockers and a Kent 286 rally
cam). It also features a straight cut
‘box and drop gears, and KAD

lived a life. Meet the father and son team who
have brought this custom legend back from
the brink...

ndy Saunders grew up in
Bournemouth fascinated by
the custom cars of the 1970s.
By the time he was 16 he was
customising his first car and
only three years later he had finished his
fourth. He now had the experience and
the imagination to create something
really radical; he was going to shorten a
Mini. “Everybody said it couldn’t be
done,” Andy remembers, “but that just
spurred me on to prove them wrong.” For
