One Way Slabs

If maximum load passes through one direction it is

called one way slab. It is designed as like a beam.

 For Bricks aggregate 𝝆𝒎𝒊𝒏 shall be
increased by 50%
 Spacing of maim bar shall not be greater
the 3t or 450mm
 For brick aggregate concrete max s = 3t/1.5

Two Way Edge Supported Slab

If load passes through two direction is called two way slab

Placement of Reinforcements

The minimum thickness of slab are used in Bangladesh is 100 mm.

 For Two Way Slab 𝝆𝒎𝒊𝒏 should not be less than
Temperature and Shrinkage bar
Maximum Spacing of Reinforcement

For Main Bar

 For One Way Slab 3t or 450mm
 For Two Way Slab 2t or 450mm

For Temperature Bar

 5t or 450mm
Where t = Thickness of the Slab minimum should be used.

 For Two Way Slab 𝝆𝒎𝒊𝒏 should not be less than Temperature
and Shrinkage bar

When bricks aggregate are used in concrete the ratio shall

be at least 1.5 times of above.
Corner reinforcement

 Corner reinforcement are used in exterior corner of two way

slab only.
 Spacing of corner reinforcement should be used same as
minimum spacing main bar spacing.
𝐿
 Corner reinforcement should be used distance from the

support . Here, L is the longer clear span.
