Abstract
An experiment was conducted to know the effects of the organic and commercial
fertilizers on the growth of the mongo plant. Our assumption is that the organic fertilizer will be
more effective to the growth of the mongo plant than the commercial fertilizer. What our group
did was make two (2) set-ups/pots: Set-up A (with organic fertilizer) and Set-up B (with
commercial fertilizer). We applied mongo seeds on each pots.

Introduction
The mung bean (Vigna radiata), alternatively known as the green gram, maash,
or moong or mongo in Tagalog (Sanskrit मुद्ग / mŪgd), is a plant species in the legume
family. The mung bean is mainly cultivated in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri
Lanka, China, Korea, South Asia and Southeast Asia. It is used as an ingredient in both savory
and sweet dishes.
A research study was conducted to know what kind of fertilizer will greatly affect the
growth of the mongo plant. The objectives of our study are 1) to verify what kind of fertilizer
will greatly affect the growth of the said plant 2) to help plant growers on the factors that will
help the growth of plants 3) to know what will be the difference between the fertilizers on the
growth of a plant 4) to spread information to people that although it is part of common sense.

Literature Review

The past studies show that in order for the mongo seeds to grow, they will need to be
provided with adequate exposure to sunlight, sufficient amount of water, plenty of nutrients from
the soil, and air. In this study, one of the factors that affect the growth of mongo seeds is
sunlight. Germination, on the other hand, requires moisture and temperature.

Methodology:
The materials needed by the researchers in conducting the experiment are:
 Ipa and urea fertilizers
 Two (2) pots
 Pen and paper (for recording)
 Ruler (for measuring)
 Mongo seeds
Procedures (in narrative or paragraph form):
First, gather all the materials needed such as; ipa and urea fertilizer, two (2) pots, pen and
paper for recording, and ruler for measuring. Prepare the two pots and put the ipa fertilizer at Pot
A and urea fertilizer at the Pot B. Apply the same amount of mongo seeds on each pots.
Remember to follow your Study Matrix. Also, remember to water the plants with same amount
plant and always observe them. Write your observations about the plants. After one week, collect
all the data gathered, and compare the two plants.

Significance of the Study:

The significance of our study is to help people what kind of fertilizer will they used so
that the plant will grow faster and better.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
It was shown that monggo seeds grown at the organic fertilizer germinated and grew
better than those grown at the commercial fertilizer. Evidence suggests that fertilizers really
affects the growth of monggo seeds in terms of quantity and quality of the seeds that germinated.
The same number of seeds was grown on set-up A and set-up B. Leaves are green in set-up A,
because the pigment in them called chlorophyll absorbs all light colors and reflects green light.
The seedlings in set-up A were shorter but sturdier with developed leaves compared to the taller
but thinner stems of set-up B. The seedlings of set-up B were taller because they were using
commercial fertilizer.
