Introduction:
We have been looking at this years possible picks for the Caldecott Award the past few
weeks. Today we are going to review a few more titles and then make our decision which
one we think will win the Caldecott Award!
Remember the Caldecott is awarded to the illustrator of the book. We have seen some
books with really amazing artwork. I have a few more to show you and then you are going
to vote and we will choose a winner from your class. We will also choose one big winner
from the second grade. Then next week I will record the ceremony for you to see who wins.
We are going to think about these same ideas when we vote for our winner:
Does The Cover Make you Want to read this book? (circle one) 1 2 3
Did you find the illustrations Interesting, exciting , silly or awesome? (circle one) 1 2 3
Did the Illustrations help to tell the story? (circle one) 1 2 3
Review voting sheet and explain how they are to go from station to station, fill out their
ballot. Make sure you look at each book, add up your score, rank the books 1-6 with one
being the best six being the least, and circle the one you like best.
