The On-Off Float Control Valve is designed to open fully or close drip-tight as commanded by the Float
ControlPilot.TheFloatPilotmaybeeithervalveorremotemounted.Thevalveclosesdriptightwhenwater
levelreachestheadjustablehigh-levelsetpoint,andopensfullywhenwaterlevelisbelowtheadjustable
low-levelsetpoint,allowingacalculateddraw-downofwaterleveltoincreasetankcirculation.
TheOn-OffFloatPilotdirectsupstreampressureintoandoutofthecoverchamberofthe3-wayAccelerator
Pilot. When the cover of the Accelerator Pilot is pressurized, the main valve cover chamber is vented
downstream,causingthevalvetoopenfully.WhenthecoveroftheAcceleratorPilotisde-pressurized,the
mainvalvecoverchamberisconnectedtoupstreampressure,causingthevalvetoclosedriptight.Valve
openingandclosingspeedsareseparatelyadjustable.Whenwaterlevelreachestheadjustablehigh-level
setpoint,theFloatPilotde-pressurizesthecoverchamberofthe3-WayAccelerator,closingthevalvedrip
tight.Thevalveremainsclosedaswaterleveldecreases.Whenwaterlevelreachestheadjustablelow-
levelsetpoint,theFloatPilotpressurizesthecoverchamberofthe3-WayAccelerator,openingthevalve
fully.Highandlowlevelsareseparatelyadjustablebypositioningstopcollarsonthefoatrod(s)atdesired
openingandclosingsetpoints.
Ifdesired,theon-offactionofthevalvecanbereversedbymodifyingthehydraulicconnectionsoftheOn-
Off Float Pilot.

ProperAutomaticControlValvestart-uprequiresbringingthevalveintoserviceinacontrolledmanner.Alladjustments
tocontrolpilotsandspeedcontrolsshouldbemadeslowly,allowingthevalvetorespondandthesystemtostabilize.
NOTE: Control Valves should be setup in a dynamic (fowing) condition for proper startup. Provisions for
fow must be made to insure proper settings.
If Float Control is remote mounted, feld installed control lines should be 3/8 minimum copper tubing for
distancesnogreaterthan10feet.Forgreaterdistancesuse1/2minimumcoppertubingorpipe.

1. Closeupstreamanddownstreamvalvestoisolatethevalvefromlinepressure.OpenallIsolationBallValves,
ifsoequipped.Ifvalveisfttedwithadjustablespeedcontrols,turnneedle(s)in(clockwise)untilseated,and
returnout(counterclockwise)1-1/2to2-1/2turns.Theseareapproximatesettings,andshouldbefnetunedto
suitsystemrequirementsafterleveladjustmentshavebeenmade.
2. Slowly open upstream isolation valve to allow controlled flling of the valve. Vent entrapped air by carefully
looseningcontroltubingorpipeplugatthehighestpointpossible.IfvalveisequippedwithaPositionIndicator,
openAirBleedPetcocktoventair.Waterwillbemilkyinappearanceandwillbegintoclearasairisvented.
Re-tightenwhenwaterventsclearly.
3. Setting Float Control:InstalldesirednumberofFloatRodsandLowandHighLevelStopCollars(lessFloat).
ManuallypositionFloatControltothecenterpointinitstravelandbalancebypositioningCounterweightinor
outuntilFloatControlholdsinposition.ProperbalanceisachievedwhenFloatControlmovestothedown/
onorup/offpositionwithminimalforceordrag.ThepositionofCounterweightontheCounterweightRod
willvarybaseduponthenumberandmaterialofFloatRodsbeingused.InstallFloat.
4. PositionLowandHighLevelStopCollarsonFloatRodstomatchdesiredvalveopeningandclosinglevels.
Slowlyopendownstreamisolationvalve.
5. FinetuneSpeedControls(ifequipped)tosuitsystemrequirements.AdjustClosingSpeedControlclockwise
forslowerclosureandcounterclockwiseforfasterclosure.AdjustOpeningSpeedControlclockwiseforslower
openingandcounterclockwiseforfasteropening.
Priortoinstallation,fushlinetoremovedebris.
Install valve horizontally in line (cover facing UP), so fow arrow matches fow through the line. Avoid installing
valves 6 and larger vertically. Consultfactoryprior toorderingifinstallationisotherthandescribed.
Installinletandoutletisolationvalves.NOTE:Whenusingbutterfyvalves,insurediscdoesnotcontactcontrolvalve.
Damageorimpropervalveseatingmayoccur.
Provideadequateclearanceforvalveservicingandmaintenance.
Installpressuregaugetomonitorvalveinletpressure.
IfOn-OffFloatPilotisremotelymounteditshouldbefeldconnectedwith3/8minimumcoppertubinginaccordance
withfactorypipingschematic.
FloatPilot,Rods,andBallshouldbemountedinafeldinstalledstillingwellforprotectionagainstsurfaceturbulence
and interference.

TheOn-OffFloatControlValveshallbeapilotoperateddiaphragmvalvedesignedtoopenfullyorclosedrip-tight
ascommandedbytheFloatControlPilot.TheFloatPilotmaybeeithervalveorremotemounted.Thevalveshall
closedriptightwhenwaterlevelreachestheadjustablehigh-levelsetpoint,andopenfullywhenwaterlevelisbe-
lowtheadjustablelow-levelsetpoint,allowingacalculateddraw-downofwaterleveltoincreasetankcirculation.
Themainvalveshallbeahydraulicallyoperated,singlediaphragmactuated,globeoranglepatternvalve.Y-
patternvalvesshallnotbepermitted.Thevalveshallcontainadiscanddiaphragmassemblythatformsasealed
chamberbelowthevalvecover,separatingoperatingpressurefromlinepressure.Thediaphragmshallbecon-
structedofnylonreinforcedBuna-N,andshallnotsealdirectlyagainstthevalveseatandshallbefullysupported
bythevalvebodyandcover.Rollingdiaphragmconstructionwillnotbeallowedandthereshallbenopistons
operatingthemainvalveoranypilotcontrols.
ThemainvalvebodyandcovershallbeDuctileIronASTMA536,andallinternalcastcomponentsshallbeDuc-
tileIronorCF8M(316)StainlessSteel.AllDuctileIroncomponents,includingthebodyandcover,shallbelined
andcoatedwithanNSF61CertifedEpoxyCoatingappliedbytheelectrostaticheatfusionprocess.Allmain
valvetrimandthrottlingcomponents(coverbearing,valveseatanddiscguide)shallbeStainlessSteel.The
valvebodyandcovermustbemachinedwitha360-degreelocatingliptoassureproperalignment.
ThediscanddiaphragmassemblyshallcontainaBuna-Nsyntheticrubberdiscwitharectangularcross-section
thatissecurelyretainedon3-1/2sidesbyadiscretaineranddiscguide.Diaphragmassembliesutilizingboltsor
capscrewsforcomponentretentionwillnotbepermitted.
Theexposedportionoftheseatdiscshallcontactthevalveseatandsealdrip-tight.Thediscanddiaphragmas-
semblymustbeguidedbytwoseparatebearings,oneinstalledinthevalvecoverandoneconcentricallylocated
withinthevalveseat,toavoiddefectionandassurepositivedisc-to-seatcontact.Centerguidedvalveswillnot
bepermitted.Allnecessaryrepairsshallbemadefromthetopofthevalvewhilethebodyremainsinline.
ThepilotcontrolsystemshallcontainanOn-OffFloatPilot,3-WayAcceleratorPilot,separateAdjustableOpening
