Carpentry & Construction Course Syllabus

Course Objectives
 Carpentry students will leave this course with the skills to enter directly into the construction trades
 Carpentry students will leave this course with the sills to enter a two-year technical college
 Carpentry students will leave this course with the skills and confidence to continue woodworking as a
personal hobby
 Carpentry students will leave this course with the skills and confidence to maintain their person property

Course Description
This course covers the vital skills necessary to enter the residential and light commercial construction trades.
Skills range from safety, hand and power tool usage, to framing and finish trim. Students will gain hands-on
experience of most construction components from the foundation to the shingles (electrical, plumbing, and
HVAC are included in these courses.) The first priority of this course is for you to learn at the best of your
ability and to provide an atmosphere where you can do so. My second priority is to insure at the best of my
ability that you can do so safely.

If your goal is to continue in the construction field after graduation, then I suggest you look at higher quality tools or brands
such as Craftsman®. Craftsman® hand tools come with a lifetime warranty. I have personally gone through several
Craftsman® tape measures and hammers that I was able to replace free of charge.
