SLAC PROJECT TEMPLATE

I. Project Title: “Knowledge Mo, I-link Mo”

II. Proponent School/Department: San Fernando NHS/English Department

III. Current State:

Based from the survey conducted, 14 out of 18 teachers or 77.8% has the limited
knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSA) in applying knowledge of content within and across
curriculum teaching areas on the 1st Quarter of school year 2018-2019.

IV. Problem Analysis:

It was found out that teachers failed to apply knowledge of content within and across
curriculum teaching areas due to their limited knowledge and lack of interest towards the
other teaching areas. This failure in applying knowledge of content within and across
curriculum teaching areas causes students failure to recognize the
interconnection/interrelatedness of all the subjects.

V. Future State:
The teacher has mastered the competencies they need for them to teach efficiently and
effectively.
Different learning/subject areas taught and learned in K-12 Curriculum.

d. What are the outcomes/expected results?

San Fernando NHS teachers were able to teach efficiently and effectively and were
able to include appropriately chosen interdisciplinary topics and enabling learning
competencies within the curriculum guide of their specific learning area and grade
level being taught. Moreover, students of SFNHS make meaningful connections and
learn the different learning/subject areas in the K-12 Curriculum.

 NARRATIVE REPORT

On the first stage of implementation of School Learning Action School (SLAC) aligned with
the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST) Module 1 (Apply knowledge of content
within and across curriculum teaching areas), it was held last November 16, 2018. It was started by a
short program. Our principal, Mrs. Rosie G. Bolofer opened the program with her Opening Remarks.
Our principal stated that, “This is not a joke. This is not a game.” She also stated that through
cooperation and attentiveness, outstanding rate for teachers will be achieved.
The Demonstration Teaching by Mrs. Remy N. Balunso, an English teacher, started at 1:35 in
the afternoon and ended at 2:35. The Demo teacher managed the time well in her delivery of the lesson.
After the Demonstration Teaching, it was immediately followed by a Post Conference with the
Principal, Mrs. Rosie G. Bolofer, our Process Observer, Mrs. Salve B. Serrano, an English teacher and
Guidance Counselor designate of San Francisco National High School, teachers, and the demo teacher.
It was started by our principal that it is one of the Mode of Verification (MOV) of the teachers. She also
stated her observations and comments. According to Mam Rosie, “There was sequential priming of
activities that started with the motivational activity. The PPST Module 1 was evident on the activity
since the demo teacher took up different subject areas. PPST Module 4 (Manage a classroom structure
to engage learners, individually or in groups, in meaningful exploration, discovery and hands-on
activities within a range of physical learning environment) was also evident. There were group work
and board work for the students.” She also stated that, “the demo teaching was time bound. The session
met at the right time, so it was successful.”
Each department gave also their observations and comments. It was started by Mr. Michael A.
Dado, a Science teacher. He stated that, “The readiness of the team was evident. The demo teacher has
self-confidence.” He had few comments on the Daily Lesson Log. According to him, “The questions or
concepts on Finding practical Applications of concepts are not aligned on the competency.” “The demo
teacher should give reward after the students answered”, Mam Ailene O. Jesalva said. Sir Jerick
Zamudio, an AP teacher stated that, “The demo teacher managed the class very well but having a hard
time to solicit answers from the students due to the reason that they are afraid to answer because there
are observers.” The same comment was given by Mam Irene B. Bermillo and Ms. Suzette B. Vasquez.
The last person who gave her observation and comments was the Process Observer, Mrs. Salve
B. Serrano. She stated that the demo teaching was well-planned so no need to repeat. It was time-bound.
The objectives are evident on the process. The demo teacher was neat and well-groomed, has modulated
voice and has enthusiasm and interest in teaching. She gave comments on the content. “There was an
integration of AP by describing Dr. Jose Rizal, integration of MAPEH by using a picture of a pitcher
on the discussion. The demo teacher exposed the students by varied activities (individual and group
activity). She has also mastered the meaning of different concepts. The demo teacher used appropriate
teaching materials such as ICT and Manila Paper.
Our process observer gave some suggestions. First, the demo teacher should monitor closely
the group activity. Second, appreciate students’ answer by clapping or giving reward. Third, let the
students answer or solicit answers from the students by showing techniques in facilitating difficult
questions to be answered.
After the Post Conference, it was followed by Awarding of Certificate to the Process Observer,
Demo Teacher, facilitator, and participants.
