METHODS OF WATERPROOFING:
1. Damp proof course in concrete
2. Waterproof plaster
3. Chemical coating for waterproofing
4. Cladding for waterproofing
5. Painting for waterproofing
6. Brick bat coba for waterproofing
To provide and lay minimum M15 concrete in band or bed form with waterproofing chemical 200 ml/bag
or ½ kg/bag powder mix in dry material. The thickness of concrete band should be min. 75 mm and max.
150mm as per instruction. Lay the concrete properly using shuttering where required, including plaining,
ramming, compaction etc. complete.
Cure the concrete with the help of gunny bags minimum 7 days. Avoid the porosity or air pockets in the
concrete layers.
To cast the band or bed at any level of building from foundation to terrace as per drawing and instruction.
WATERPROOF PLASTER:
To provide and apply cement mortar or surface in minimum 2 coats. Each coat thickness required to be
min 5mm to 10mm and total thickness should not be more than 20mm. The cement sand proportion
should be 1:3 to 1:4 as per instruction. Maintain the water cement ratio as per design or 25l / bag. Add the
waterproofing chemical in dry material 200ml/bag in liquid form or ½ kg/bag in powder form and mix
properly. Keep 24 hrs gap in between two coats, cure the surface minimum 7 days by sprinkling method
3 times/day for internal area and 4 times for external area including groove, cutting, finishing scaffolding
etc. complete as directed.
Before the application of mortar clean the surface by wire brush, remove the dust properly. Sprinkle water
½ hour before application of mortar as per the instructions.
CHEMICAL COATING
a) To provide and clean the surface by wire brush, remove the unwanted materials; clean and
dustfree the surface by cotton cloth as per instruction, fill the gaps and cracks by approved
viscous chemicals or cement slurry properly.
b) To provide and apply the chemical coat by brush in two layers in horizontal and vertical strokes
properly as per company instructions including covering of surface, cleaning scaffolding tools and
tackles etc. complete as company and site engineers instructions.
Type: General
a) To provide and clean the surface, remove unwanted material projection and for gaps or pockets
use 1:4 cement mortar with waterproof chemicals and make the surface in proper level including
scaffolding curing etc. complete. Applicable for horizontal and vertical surfaces.
b) To provide and fix rough shahabad stone ladi, kota, tandur, kadappa in 1:4 cement mortar with
waterproofing chemical mixed in two layers staggering or breaking the joints. Should be filled up
with 1:2 cement mortar grout by gravitational or mechanical force in gaps. Fill the grout after 12
hrs including scaffolding, centering, shuttering etc. complete. After completion of cladding work or
curing period, apply 5 to 10mm thick cement mortar coat 1:1 proportion on exposed surfaces by
manual pump or machine on the surface. Sprinkle water 3 times a day for 3 days. If the vertical
layer height increases more than three layers, give 12mm dia. MS bar support to each ladi. The
tile size should not be less than 300 mm in width and 450 in height the minimum thickness of tile
should be 20mm, the joints and space between tile and surface should be 18-25mm complete as
per engineer incharge and detail drawings.
a) To provide and clean the surface with wire brush and washout properly and make surface smooth
and clean for painting application as per approval of engineer in-charge.
b) To provide and apply one coat of cement and waterproofing base primer. Sprinkle the water upto
3 times for 3 days , then fill up the cracks by epoxy waterproof chemical.
c) To provide and apply two coats (minimum) of waterproof paint in vertical & horizontal strokes
keeping 24hrs gap between two coats of approved shade. Cure surface by sprinkling of water
including cleaning, scaffolding, etc. complete.
Type: General
a) To provide and clean the surface by broom & wash out the surface properly, then clean with
cotton cloth, remove unwanted excess deposited materials.
b) To provide and fill the gaps/ cracks by waterproof epoxy material properly , then apply one coat of
cement slurry in one direction (Horizontal /Vertical) only. After 24hrs interval, apply the second
coat in the opposite direction. Cure the surface by sprinkling water one day (3 times/ day)
complete as per instruction.
c) To provide and lay 1:4 cement mortar on the surface min 18mm & max 50mm thick with
waterproof compound 200ml/bag and ½ kg/bag mix properly in dry material & plain the mortar in
proper gradient and arrange the 1st class brick minimum size should be 25mm, ½ portion of bat
embedded in mortar and half portion free. Arrange the bats as per level marks, joints or cavity
between two bats should be require 15 - 25mm including material preparation, transport,
services, sand, etc. complete. 3 days cure/ water the brick bat coba. Don't start finishing before 3
days as per engineer in-charge instruction.
d) After 3 days, fill the remaining half portion by 1:4 cement mortar with water proof compound mix
in proper gradient and plain the surface with groove marks by trowels after hardening of mortar
(after 2 hrs). Apply the preliminary finishing coat in 1:1 cement mortar neatly & finish with metal
trowel with groove not more than 0.5m x 0.5m distance. Cure the surface by ponding method for
minimum 7 days. Start curing within 6 - 72 hrs as per instruction of engineer on site.
Mode of Measurement: m2
For all above stages, rate to be considered once only in sq.m.
Any activity such as grout, plaster ,cleaning, chemical support not be considered for separate or
extra work.
Any area less than 1 m2 is rounded off to 1 m 2, but fractional area after complete figure may not
be rounded off.
