Magnifico

Magnifico (2003) is a poignant and motivating movie about a young Filipino boy who,
despite his lack of intelligence, remained optimistic which enabled him to help not only
his family but also those living within their community, because of his profound
generosity and sympathy to the people around him, he was able to change their lives.
Eventually, they developed a positive outlook in life. The film opens with the birth of
Magnifico in their home- which is evindently a typical house of poor rural family in the
Philippines in island of Luzon.

The nickname of magnifico is ikoy, a child of an impoverished family. His father works
odd jobs , his elder brother has lost his academic scholarship(Miong), and his mother
spend her days caring for both Helen, a young daughter, who suffers from cerebral
palsy, and for her husband’s aging mother, who lives upstairs in the in the family home
and has a diabetes and pancreatic cancer. Magnifico is a sweet and well-intentioned
boy, who is often berated by his father for his stupidity.

Magifico’s world is filled with a cast of characters in need of his special gifts of hope, of
determination, of love. There’s the grief-stricken man who mourns for his mother, two
fending shop owners; The crabby old women who runs the mortuary; his elder brother,
who has a crush on a wealthy girl. His little sister, who wants to get out and experience
the world.

Maganifico wants to make her little sister happy so Manifico showed her sister the
different enjoyable rides, The delicious foods and candies sold at the stalls, and many
more. It is a apparent on Helen’s face the happiness she felt as they wandered around
the town carnival. Many people saw Magnifico hauling Helen on his back and they
showed them sympathy and benevolence. There was a two neighbors who saw
Magnifico and Helen they give them Php 100 to be able to afford the other rides.

For a short moment witnessed how magnifico strenuously hauled Helen on his back
and realized how compassionate and giving magnifico’s heart was having understood
why magnifico earnestly wanted to rent his wheelchair, he decided to give it to him for
free do he immediately asked him to go to his house.
