Valuing the importance of proper waste management through the aid of the 5Rs
technique to the environment and mankind.

• Learning Competencies:
A. Recognize the importance of recycle, reduce, reuse, repair and recover in
waste management.
B. Design a product using local, recyclable solid material in making useful
product

• Values Integration: Valuing God’s gift (The Environment).
• DRRM Integration: Proper waste management to prevent flood.
• NDEP Integration: community involvement--- recycling materials.

B. Materials
• ICT Integration: Powerpoint Presentation
• Activity 1: plastic bottle, scissors, scotch tape, colored paper/bond paper,
pentel pen, pencil, crayon.
• Activity 2: Activity sheets
IV. Procedure
A. Review:
Ask: What does 5Rs mean?
B. Motivation
Show a short video clip on waste management and recycling
Ask: What techniques were shown in the video?
C. Lesson Proper
1. Explain to the class the 5 ways of waste management and show the class
pictures of materials being reduced, reused, recycled, repair
and recover.
2. (Think-pair-share method) Let the pupils pair with a friend. Give them
random pictures that they will be posting on the wall according to the waste
management as shown by the picture that they have.
3. Let the class share their thoughts as to what products or outputs can be made
through 5Rs.
4. Discuss to the class the importance of practicing 5Rs waste management.
5. Share to the class the opportunities that 5Rs can give to people (NDEP
integration)
6. Show to the class pictures of the good effects of practicing 5Rs. (Values
Integration, DRRM Integration)
D. Generalization:
Ask: How important is the 5Rs waste management in the environment?

E. Application
1. Prepare all the materials needed by the pupils for their activity,
2. The class will be grouped into two and each group shall create an output out
of recyclable plastic bottles.
3. Let the pupils explain their output in front.
V. Evaluation
The pupils will be grouped into three groups. The yellow team(low team), red
team (average team) and the blue team (advanced team) each of them will be
given sorted activities with accordance to their mental ability, needs and
interest.

VI. Assignment

Interview one of the Barangay Kagawads of Brgy. Biyabid on the practices done by the
Barangay on proper waste management.
