Chapter 5

Summary, Findings, Conclusion and Recommendations

This chapter presents the summary of the foregoing chapters and

its findings. In determining The Grade 9 Students Satisfaction on

the Food Services provided by the School Canteen of University of

Northeastern Philippines S.Y 2018-2019. The main objective of

this study is to determine the level of student’s satisfaction.

Summary

The main goal of the study was to determine the grade 9 students

satisfaction on the food services provided by the school canteen

of University of Northeastern Philippines School Year 2018-2019

Specifically, it was undertaken to answer the following queries:

1. What is demographic profile of the students in terms of the

following:

1.1 name;

1.2 age;

1.3 allowance?

2. What is the satisfaction level of the Grade 9 Students in the

school canteen as to the following:

2.1 price;

2.2 taste of the food;

2.3 nutritional value;

2.4 cleanliness; and

2.5 overall satisfaction?

3. Is there a significance agreement of the rank order on the

students satisfaction level to the food services provided by the

school canteen?

4. What recommendation can be formulated to improve school

canteen services?

The researcher made use of case study. This study is intensive

analysis of an individual unit stressing developmental factors in

relation to environment and seeks to find answers to why such

things occur.

Slovin’s formula was used by the researcher in the choice of the

locale of the study which is in the University of Northeastern

Philippines, Iriga City more particularly the Senior High School

Department.

The respondents were the Junior High School more particularly

the Grade 9 students, there 112 students who will take the

questionnaire. To specify, there 48 or 42.86% males and 64 or

57.14% females.

The statistical tool used in the treatment of data were Slovin’s

formula, Weighted Mean, the Percentage Technique and Rank Method.

From the statistical treatment of the data with the corresponding

analysis and interpretation, the following findings have

surfaced.

analysis and interpretation thereto, the following findings have

surfaced.

1. The profile of the respondents in terms of;


1.1 The Age of the respondents of University of

Northeastern Philippines Grade 9 students at 13-14

years old has 55 or 49.10 and 54 or 48.21 at 15-16

years old and there is 3 or 2.67 at above. The total

respondents are 112.


1.2 The Sex of the respondents of the University of the

Northeastern Philippines Grade 9 students in male

respondents of Grade 9 students is 92.86 and the female

respondents of Grade 9 students is 54.14. Most of

respondents are female. The total respondents of Grade

9 students of the University of Northeastern

Philippines is 112 or 100.


1.3 The Allowance of the respondents of University of

Northeastern Philippines Grade 9 students at 20-40

pesos has 38.3 and 50 (49.86) at 50-80 pesos and there

is 13 (11.2) at 100 and above. The total of the

respondents are 112.

1. What is the satisfaction level of the Grade 9 Students in the

school canteen as to the following; nutritional values, taste of

food, cleanliness and overall satisfaction?

2. Is there a significance agreement of the rank order on the

students satisfaction level to the food services provided by the

school canteen?

3. What recommendation can be formulated to improve school

canteen services?

CONCLUSIONS

Based from the findings of the study the following

conclusions are drawn:

1. University of Northeastern Philippines canteen prepares food

that sustains the nutrients that the student needs in order to

perform well in School.

2. The taste of Canteen's food is not well appreciated by the

students.

3. Prices of the food in school canteen are justified enough and

followed the Suggested retail price.

4. Canteens cleanliness is not always observed and there are

times that they are not aware in cleanliness.

5. The school canteen should maintain the cleanliness of the

serving area and also the environment in canteen clean always.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Based from the conclusions drawn from the result of the

study, the researchers prompted to highly recommend the

following:

To the School Canteen

1. The canteen must undertake a survey to be able determine

precisely what the students wants and needs.

2. School canteen should always pose a menu plan in advance as

to the food served to provide the students information on

the available food for serving which will provide all their

daily requirements.

3. A regular conduct survey and interview regarding student’s

preferences and suggestions should be utilized to further

improve canteen operation.

4. In maintaining canteen's sanitation, the canteen staffs must

do a regular cleaning not only inside its premises but also

on the outside.

To the Canteen Staff

5. Encourage canteen staff to adopt other methods of making the

food tasteful.

6. Canteen staff should secure a medical certificate from the

Municipal health department and observe personal hygiene.

7. In maintaining Canteen's sanitation, the staffs must do a

regular cleaning not only inside its premises but also on

the outside.

8. It is recommended that canteen staff should ensure the

student’s satisfaction in taste of food by serving them the

best.

To the School Canteen Administrator

9. In connection with maintaining its cleanliness there should

be one organization that will do a regular inspection if

proper waste segregation is implemented in this area.


10. To the school administrators-should work together to

support the feeding program to minimize the malnourished

students in school.
