Inferring
When listening to people, you can learn a lot of information not only from
what they say directly but also from what they say indirectly. Guessing from
indirect information is called “inferring”. Inferring is an important part of
listening.
Example:
Direct information : The phone is ringing but nobody is picking up.
Inference : They are probably not home.
