PREFACE

First of all, praise to the God almighty who is the best creator of universe

and which has provided a healthy favor and had the grace and blessings i could

finish the paper that had the title “Curriculum and Material Development”.

Secondly, i never forget to send shalawat and salam to our prophet

muhammad SAW who has bring us from the darkness to the lightness or from

jahiliah era to islamic era as like nowadays.

I would like to thank our lecturer who have been giving knowledge in the

making of this paper is to finish and also to all those who helped in completing of

this paper.

For the perfection of this paper, i expect criticism and suggestions from

readers as we only human who make mistakes. We hope that will be useful to the

dear readers to get information or reference from this paper.

CHAPTER I

QUESTION AND ANSWER

A. CURRICULUM

1. The definition of Curriculum and Syllabus!

Answer:

Curriculum is defined as the guideline of the chapters and academic


content covered by an educational system while undergoing a particular
course or program.

The syllabus is defined as the documents that consist of topics or portion


covered in a particular subject. It is determined by the examination board and
created by the professors.

2. The basic of curriculum and syllabus and the distinguished between


Curriculum and Syllabus!

Answer:

The basic of curriculum and syllabus:

The curriculum is a Latin terms and the syllabus is a Greek terms.

The distinguished between curriculum and syllabus:

The curriculum is the overall content, taught in a educational system or a


course.

The syllabus is the document that contains all the portion of the concepts
covered in a subject.

3. The component of Curriculum and the structure of Syllabus!


Answer:

Four major Components of curriculum:

a. Aims goals and objectives


b. Subject matter or content
c. Learning experience
d. Evaluation approaches

The structure of Syllabus:

a. Syllabus contains a collection of the forms and structures, usually


grammatical of the language
b. It covers nouns, verbs, adjectives, statements, questions, complex
sentences, subordinate clauses, past tense and other aspects of language
from such as pronounciation or morphology.
4. Why should Curriculum and Syllabus changed?

Answer:

Because Curriculum have to follow the growth of the Times, the growth of
Science and the growth of population, easy to apply in to the society and easy
to learned by students.

5. The based consideration of changing Curriculum and Syllabus!

Answer:

To improve competencies and capabilities of students such as critical and


creative thinking, depends on the integration of three broad learning domains
like Knowledge, Skills and Values. As we know that our Government satisfied
that if the students in Indonesia reach the values of the competence but
actually that’s not means we’re success, we can satisfied when our students in
Indonesia can pass over the standard competence actually.

6. What is the principles of changing the curriculum?


Answer:

a. General principles: relevance, fleksibility, continuity, practical and


effective.
b. Specific principles: the principle regard to the purpose of education, the
principle regard to the selection of the teaching and learning process, the
principles regard to the selection of media and lesson tools, the principle
regard to the selection of assessment activities.
7. What is the relationship between Curriculum and Instruction?

Answer:

The relationship between Curriculum and Instruction:

Instruction is a part of Curriculum, when you apply some instruction in the


class, the instruction must be based on the Curriculum. Curriculum made by
government to be a base for teacher to make Syllabus and Instruction. So
when teacher apply instruction in the class that’s means the teacher apply a
part of Curriculum.

B. MATERIAL DEVELOPMENT

1. What is Material Development?

Answer:

Materials development is concerned with all the resources available for


helping the teaching and learning process. These resources include
professionally printed products such as textbooks, activity, books and teachers
guides as well as CD-ROM, DVD, and online computer resources.

2. Who should Developing Materials and how to develop it?


Answer:

Who should developing materials:

Of course created by Teachers and Students

How to develop it:

The teachers can review various resources option, between teachers and
students can discuss their advantages & disadvantages of the resources, then
the last teachers create effective and efficient materials to help in the teaching
and learning process.

3. What the based consideration for Developing the Material?

Answer:

Because the materials have to dynamic that is means must to be growth


with the Times, and for the benefit of developing materials is expected
Materials should achieve impact, Materials should help learners to feel at ease,
Materials should help learners to develop confidence and Materials should
require and facilitate learner self-investment.

4. Analyze the Language Material Development proposed by Indonesian


Government. You can analysis by educational level in Senior High School
or Junior High School!

Answer:

As we know that our government entering the Language Material in our


course and English as The Target Language. In this globalization era, English
have to learn as International language and that is not a stranger. That is good
to entering the Language Material especially English in the course or the class.

I actually a volunteer in Vocational High School in Bulukumba and based


on my experience teach the students there is like teach students from
Elementary School, their ability and knowledge in English is very less, but
something that makes me amaze is all of them very excited in learning
English, so their English is gonna be better in the future, I wish. English can
learned in the class, course and actually learning by experiences.

So, Don’t Give Up.


CHAPTER II
