When my mom was 8 month pregnant with me she
tripped on my brothers toy car and the fall made her
go into labor but. This made my birth difficult since the
impact got me stuck and as a result i was born purple
from lack of oxygen.
Childhood
Born in mexico in a city called torreon When i was
eight my family came to America

For me it was difficult to learn and speak English

because doing so made me feel like i was abandoning
my culture

Throughout my elementary school years many of my

teachers would tell me in America we speak English
and it’s true but saying this to a little girl who is not
from here can really impact her views on her own
