Smart lighting system

Have a vision based sensor system that identifies a person
entering a room and turns on the lights in a designated area
The project involves three modules –
1) sensor interface - could be a camera,
2) person identification – software implemented on a portable
embedded system, and
3) actuator assembly that executes an action (e.g. turning on
lights).

Portable spectrum analyzer

Build an embedded system that displays the spectral content of a
signal (amplitude and frequency, either on an HDMI monitor or a
portable display).
The system must have user programmable settings for frequency
span, amplitude scaling, adding cursors etc. and must be able to
save the spectral data on a host computer (as screenshots as well
as raw data). The project team must design appropriate signal
conditioning front end and implement the core of the system on
an FPGA or DSP board.

Inventory management drone

Interface a barcode scanning engine to a nano-drone (weighing
less than 250gms) to automatically keep stock of inventory in a
room by flying the drone and scanning the boxes remotely.
Drone will be provided, the team must build the barcode engine
interface circuitry and necessary firmware.

Centrifugal microfluidic disk based biosensing platform

The idea is to design something like

for glucose sensing.
The disk will be used to separate blood into its constituent fluids
and optical sensing will be used for glucose detection.
