Electronic Products Aiding Education
People’s Daily
May 16
Whether children should use electronic products is a question of concern for many parents.
According to a survey, 60 percent of teenagers think their friends are addicted to smart-
phones and 33 percent would rather communicate with their friends online than meet them
face to face.
A healthy body and sound brain are the basis for innovative talent. Unfortunately, ex-
cessive use of electronic products may lead to memory degradation, headaches and sleep
disorders in children. The fragmented information and short videos which bombard children
every day may affect their ability to think independently, while easy access to information may
damage their desire to explore, as curiosity and the desire to learn are the essential qualities
for innovative people. Moreover, as many children are used to social networking online, they
may become shy in real life and lose the ability to participate in teamwork, which is an impor-
tant quality today.
However, as every coin has two sides, the Internet also has its bright side. It has tran-
scended geographical restrictions to enable children anywhere to access the best educational
resources. All kinds of homework apps have also increased interactions between students and
teachers online.
Schools and parents should therefore give proper guidance to children in using electronic

emerged amid the industrial restructuring
in China. The Ministry of Human Resources
and Social Security (MOHRSS), the State
Administration for Market Regulation and
the National Bureau of Statistics recently
announced 13 additions to the national
occupational inventory. They also include
AI technician, IoT technician, big data
technician, cloud computing technician,
electronic sports specialist, unmanned
aerial vehicle (UAV) pilot and agricultural
manager.
According to Yang Weiguo, a profes-

of China, new jobs are being created in
the current era of digital economy due to
the development of new industries and
people’s increasing demands.
“The official recognition of the new
occupations will help improve the profes-

providers,” he said.

The catalogue of occupational classifica-

As a whole, Asia is the top tourist desti-

percent of Chinese overseas tourist trips were
to Asian countries, according to the Asian
Tourism Cooperation and Exchanges Report
released by the China Tourism Academy (CTA)
at the Culture, Tourism and People-to-People

The Philippines, with its idyllic tropical is-

year, they made 1.2 million trips to the country,
ranking second in terms of total international
tourist arrivals.
Tomasito G. Umali, Tourism Attaché of
the Philippine Department of Tourism Beijing
Office, said to Beijing Review, “The Philippines
and China are ocean neighbors. We have a long
history based on artifacts like porcelains found
in the Philippines which archaeologists said
belonged to China’s Song Dynasty (960-1279)…
Our mission is to make the Philippines known to
Chinese people not only as a tourist destination
but also as a people and a nation so that more
friendship will develop between China and the
Philippines.”
The Belt and Road Initiative has helped
boost tourism between China and other par-
ticipating countries. Syed Muhammad Mehdi,
Managing Director of the Pakistani company
One World which organizes conferences, exhibi-

Pakistan is growing fast thanks to the initiative.
For example, the travel time between capital city
Islamabad and the tourist city Gilgit shortened
from up to 15 hours six months ago to eight
hours today, with the road becoming much saf-
er. As a result, it is expected that more tourists
will choose Pakistan. Moreover, Central Asian
countries such as Tajikistan and Azerbaijan are
attracting more Chinese tourists because of the
initiative.
“Most people want to travel abroad to see
other cultures and countries. It helps people
of different cultures and nationalities to under-
stand and know each other. Certainly it helps
intercultural dialogue,” Shashin Shahbazov,
Chief Advisor of the Ministry of Culture and
