PENITENTIAL ACT

The Celebrant

Brethren (brothers and sisters),

let us acknowledge our sins,
and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries.
A brief pause for silence follows.

I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters,

that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
  (we strike our breast)
through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask the blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters, to for me to the Lord our God.

The celebrant, with hands joined, says:

Let us pray.
with hands extended,

Holy Father, who, by no merit of my own, chose me for

communion with the eternal priesthood of your Christ and for the
ministry of your Church, grant that I may be an ardent yet gentle
preacher of the Gospel and a faithful steward of your mysteries.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns
with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

R/. Amen

THE LITURGY OF THE WORD

FIRST READING        Acts 11: 21b-26;

12:1-3

A reading from the Acts of the Apostles

In those days a great number who believed turned to the Lord.

The news about them reached the ears of the Church in Jerusalem,

and they sent Barnabas to go to Antioch.
When he arrived and saw the grace of God,
he rejoiced and encouraged them all
to remain faithful to the Lord in firmness of heart,
for he was a good man, filled with the Holy Spirit and faith.
And a large number of people was added to the Lord.
Then he went to Tarsus to look for Saul,
and when he had found him he brought him to Antioch.
For a whole year they met with the Church
and taught a large number of people,
and it was in Antioch that the disciples
were first called Christians.

Now there were in the Church at Antioch prophets and teachers:

Barnabas, Symeon who was called Niger,
Lucius of Cyrene,
Manaen who was a close friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said,
"Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul
for the work to which I have called them."
Then, completing their fasting and prayer,
they laid hands on them and sent them off.

The Word of the Lord.

R/. Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM Ps. 98: 1, 2-

3ab, 3cd
THE LORD HAS REVEALED TO THE NATIONS HIS SAVING POWER.

Sing to the LORD a new song,

for he has done wondrous deeds;
His right hand has won victory for him,
his holy arm.
The LORD has made his salvation known:
in the sight of the nations he has revealed his justice.
He has remembered his kindness and his faithfulness
toward the house of Israel.
All the ends of the earth have seen

the salvation by our God.
Sing joyfully to the LORD, all you lands;
break into song; sing praise.
Sing praise to the LORD with the harp,
with the harp and melodious song.
With trumpets and the sound of the horn
sing joyfully before the King, the LORD.

A brief period may be made for silent meditation.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION
R/. Alleluia, alleluia.
Let your light shine before others
that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.
R/. Alleluia, alleluia.

Meanwhile, if incense is used, the priest puts some into the thurible.
After this, the priest, bowing before the altar says quietly:

Cleanse my heart and my lips, almighty God,

that I may worthily proclaim your Holy Gospel.
GOSPEL Mt.
5: 13-16

The Priest: The Lord be with you.

R/. And with your spirit.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew

Jesus said to his disciples:

"You are the salt of the earth.
But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned?
It is no longer good for anything
but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
You are the light of the world.
A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket;
it is set on a lampstand,
where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your heavenly Father."

The Gospel of the Lord.

R/. Praise to you, O Lord Jesus Christ.

Then he kisses the book, saying quietly,

Through the words of the Gospel may our sins be wiped away.
Then follows the Homily.

endeavor. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST

When all this has been done, the Offertory Chant begins.
The Celebrant, standing at the altar,
takes the paten with the bread and holds it slightly raised above the altar with both hands,
saying in a low voice:

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,

for through your goodness we have received
the bread we offer you:
fruit of the earth and work of human hands,
it will become for us the bread of life.

Then he places the paten with the bread on the corporal.

The Deacon, or the Priest, pours wine and a little water into the chalice, saying quietly:

By the mystery of this water and wine

may we come to share in the divinity of Christ
who humbled himself to share in our humanity.

The Celebrant then takes the chalice and holds it slightly raised above the altar with both hands, saying in a low
voice:

Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,

for through your goodness we have received
the wine we offer you:
fruit of the vine and work of human hands
it will become our spiritual drink.
Then he places the chalice on the corporal.
After this, the Celebrant bowing profoundly, says quietly:

With humble spirit and contrite heart

may we be accepted by you, O Lord,
and may our sacrifice in your sight this day
be pleasing to you, Lord God.
If appropriate, he also incenses the offerings, the cross, and the altar.
A Deacon or other minister then incenses the Priest and the people.
Then the Celebrant, standing at the side of the altar, washes his hands, saying quietly:

https://cdn.fbsbx.com/v/t59.2708-21/60726772_6172874987510…h=2a91c2227053d05db088843b2f89258b&oe=5D2D5163&dl=1 7/14/19, 9F10 PM

Wash me, O Lord, from my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.

Standing at the middle of the altar, facing the people, extending and then joining his hands, he says:

Pray, brethren (brothers and sisters),

that my sacrifice and yours
may be acceptable to God,
the almighty Father.
The people rise and reply:

May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands

For the praise and glory of his name,
for our good and the good of all his holy Church.

Then the Celebrant with hands extended, says the Prayer over the Offerings.

We offer you the sacrifice of praise, O Lord, for the deepening

of our service of you, so that what you have conferred on us,
unworthy as we are, you may graciously bring to fulfillment.
Through Christ our Lord.

R/. Amen.

V. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
R. It is right and just.

It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,

always and everywhere to give you thanks,
Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
through Christ our Lord.

For you have built your Church

to stand firm on apostolic foundation,
to be a lasting sign of your holiness on earth
and offer all humanity your heavenly teaching.

Holy, Holy, Holy…

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II
The Priest, with hands extended, says: Celebrant

alone

You are indeed Holy, O Lord,

the fount of all holiness.
He joins his hands and, holding them extended over the offerings, says: Celebrant with
concelebrants

Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray,

By sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall,
He joins his hands and makes the Sign of the Cross once over the bread and chalice together, saying:

so that they may become for us the Body and Blood of
our Lord Jesus Christ.
He joins his hands.
In the formulas that follow, the words of the Lord should be pronounced clearly and distinctly,
as the nature of these words requires.

At the time he was betrayed

and entered willingly into his Passion,
He takes the bread and, holding it slightly raised above the altar, continues:
he took bread and, giving thanks, broke it,
and gave it to his disciples, saying:
He bows slightly.

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT,

FOR THIS IS MY BODY,
WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.
He shows the consecrated host to the people, places it again on the paten, and genuflects in adoration.
After this, he continues:

In a similar way, when supper was ended,

He takes the chalice and, holding it slightly raised above the altar, continues:

he took the chalice

and, once more giving thanks,
he gave it to his disciples, saying:
He bows slightly.

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU,

AND DRINK FROM IT,
FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD,
THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND
ETERNAL COVENANT,
WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY
FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.
DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.
He shows the chalice to the people, places it on the corporal, and genuflects in adoration.

Then he says: The mystery of faith:

And the people will continue acclaiming:

When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup

We proclaim your death O Lord.
Until you come again (2x) We proclaim your death O Lord.

Then the priest, with hands extended, says:

Celebrant with concelebrants
Therefore, as we celebrate
the memorial of his Death and Resurrection,
we offer you, Lord,
the Bread of Life and the Chalice of salvation,
giving thanks that you have held us worthy
to be in your presence and minister to you.

Humbly we pray
that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ,
we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.

Celebrant or concelebrant
Remember, Lord, your Church,
spread throughout the world,
and bring her to the fullness of charity,
together with Francis, our Pope
and Florentino, our Archbishop
and all the clergy.

Celebrant or concelebrant
Remember also our brothers and sisters
who have fallen asleep in the hope of resurrection,
and all who have died in your mercy:
welcome them into the light of your face.
Have mercy on us all, we pray,
that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God,
with blessed Joseph, her most chaste spouse,
with the blessed Apostles,
and all the Saints who have pleased you throughout the ages,
we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life,
and may praise and glorify you
He joins his hands.
through your Son, Jesus Christ.

He takes the Chalice and the Paten with the host and raising both he says:
Through him, and with him, and in him,
O God, almighty Father,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all glory and honor is yours,
forever and ever.
The people acclaim Amen.

At the Savior’s command
and formed by divine teaching,
we dare to say:
He extends his hands and, together with the people, continues:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be thy name…
The Priest:

Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil,

graciously grant peace in our days,
that, by the help of your mercy,
we may be always free from sin
and safe from all distress,
as we await the blessed hope
and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

The assembly:

For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
Now and forever.

The Priest:

Lord Jesus Christ,

who said to your Apostles:
Peace I leave you, my peace I give you;
look not on our sins,
but on the faith of your Church,
and graciously grant her peace and unity
in accordance with your will.
Who live and reign for ever and ever.
R/. Amen.

The Priest:

The peace of the Lord be with you always.

R/. And with your spirit.

Then he adds,

Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

The celebrant breaks the consecrated host.

Meanwhile the following is sung or said:
Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world: Have mercy on us.
Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world: Have mercy on us.
Lamb of God you take away the sins of the world:

Grant us peace, grant us peace.
The Celebrant genuflects, takes the host and, holding it slightly raised above the paten or above the chalice, while
facing the people, says aloud:

Behold the Lamb of God,

behold him who takes away the sins of the world.
Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
The priest with the assembly:

Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof,

but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

Communion Antiphon Cf. 1 Cor 10:16

The chalice of blessing that we bless

is a communion in the Blood of Christ;
and the bread that we break
is a sharing in the Body of the Lord.

Silence for personal prayer

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

The Priest:

Let us pray.
For the glory of your name, O Lord, I have joyfully celebrated the
mystery of faith to mark the anniversary of my priestly ordination, so
that I may be in truth what I have handled mystically in this sacrifice.
Through Christ our Lord.
R/. Amen.
If they are necessary, brief announcements and words of thanks may be made here.
