2. COURSE OFFERED
The LL.M. Course is going to be offered in Semester Pattern under Choice Based Credit System.

3. FOR ATTENTION OF ALL APPLICANTS


The applicants, before applying to Master of Law (LL.M.) Two Year Course (Semester
Pattern( [Self Financing Mode] are advised to carefully go through the Prospectus and if they so
desire visit the College Campus to know about the infrastructure and other facilities. If satisfied,
he/she may apply to the Master of Law (LL.M.) Course as per their eligibility. Once admitted,
making any unreasonable demand thereafter shall not be entertained and it shall be treated as
an act of indiscipline.

4. ADMISSION INTO LL.M. TWO YEAR COURSE (SEMESTER PATTERN) UNDER CHOICE
BASED CREDIT SYSTEM

i. Admission into the aforementioned course shall be governed by the Regulations of


Berhampur University and Rules for Admission framed by the College approved by the
Syndicate.

ii. A Candidate whose conduct is not satisfactory shall not be considered for Admission.

iii. Admission into LL.M. will be made on the basis of carrier points/marks secured in the
qualifying examinations whichever is applicable as specified in Section-7.

5. DURATION OF COURSE

i. The duration of the Master of Law (LL.M.) Course leading to Master Degree in Law of
Berhampur University shall be Two Academic Years consisting of Four Semesters.
ii. Master of Law (LL.M.) shall be Full Time Course.
iii. The end Semester Examination for First and Third shall ordinarily be held within six
months from the date of Admission/re-admission and the same for the Second and
Fourth Semesters shall ordinarily be held within six months from the end of First/Third
Semesters examinations, or on such dates as may be prescribed by Berhampur
University.
6. RULES FOR ADMISSION OF FOREIGN STUDENTS

Fifteen percent supernumerary seats may be created in all the above courses for
admission of foreign students. These seats shall be exclusively meant for foreign students.
No candidate from a Foreign Country will be considered for admission unless his/her
case has been sponsored by the relevant Department/Ministry, Government of India. The
sponsored candidates are required to submit in the prescribed proforma a Medical Fitness
Certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner not below the rank of CDMO within a month of
their provisional admission, besides such other documents as are required under the
rules/instructions of the Government of India/Orissa.
Foreign students who have passed the qualifying examination from a foreign country
taking admission in Lingaraj Law College have to pay Rs. 10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only)
along with other fees applicable from time to time for the entire course. Further, a foreign
student passing the qualifying examination from any Indian/Foreign University will have to
come through the Admission Rules.
7. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
Any person who has passed the LL.B. Examination with a minimum of 55% (Fifty Five per
cent) of marks in aggregate for (general category) and a minimum of 50% (Fifty per cent) of
marks in aggregate (for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled
Tribes) is eligible for admission. Career points shall be computed as detailed below:

N.B.: For candidate passing as ‘Compartmental’, no mark shall be given.

8. RESERVATIONS AND CONCESSIONS

i. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (S.Cs & S.Ts) :

38.75% (Thirty Eight and Three fourth) percent of the sanctioned strength is reserved for
candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC 16.25 and ST 22.50%).
Necessary Caste/Tribe certificate to this effect only by a Revenue Officer of the locality not
below the rank of a Tahasildar must be submitted.

ii. Sports / Games Weightage:

a. One seat shall be reserved for candidates who have participated in Senior
National/International Level competitions in Sports/Games representing the state
concerned/India, subject to verification of Original Certificate provided they must have secured
minimum percent of marks prescribed at para 5.

b. A weightage of 15% (Fifteen per cent) of career points secured by the candidate at the
qualifying examination will be given to those who have participated at the qualifying degree
stage in the (a) Inter-University competitions (b) as a member of the Combined University team,
provided they must have secured minimum percent of marks prescribed para 5.

c. A weightage of 15% (Fifteen per cent) of career points secured by the candidate at the
qualifying examination will also be given to those candidates who qualify under (i) above, but
could not get admission against the direct quota, provided they must have secured minimum
percent of marks prescribed para 5.

In order to be eligible for concession enumerated above, the sportsperson should have
participated in the event within the preceding two years. Such a candidate must submit a
certificate to the effect in the proper format (but not in the form of a testimonial) as
prescribed by Sports bodies, from the Registrar of the Berhampur University or Secretary
Sports Council / State / National level Sports bodies duly countersigned by the Head of the
Institution / Principal in which the Sports person was studying at the time of achieving
the above distinction(s).

iii. Graduates of Berhampur University: After providing for the reservations stated in (i) &
(ii) above, 50% (Fifty Per cent) of the remaining seats shall be reserved for candidates of
Berhampur University.

9. APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

Applicants are advised to apply in downloaded PDF form only by visiting the website
www.buodisha.edu.in

FEE TO BE PAID ALONGWITH THE APPLICATION FORM

Alongwith the print out of PDF downloaded application form duly filled-in, candidates seeking
admission into LL.M. Course should submit an account payee Bank Draft of Rs.500/- (Rupees
Five hundred) only for general candidates and Rs.400/- (Four hundred) for SC/ST candidates
towards Processing-cum-Application form fee drawn in favour of Principal, Lingaraj Law
College, Payable at Berhampur on any Nationalised Bank

Note: Processing-cum-Application fee once paid shall not be refunded under any
circumstances.
Money orders and postal orders shall not be accepted under any circumstance.

10. SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION:

Candidates seeking admission into LL.M. course shall send their print out PDF applications in the
prescribed form duly filled in by them alongwith the required documents and fee (complete in
all respect) to the Principal, Lingaraj Law College, Berhampur- 760 010, Dist: Ganjam,
Odisha by Registered Post/Speed Post. The application forms will not be accepted in
person. The complete application form must reach to the Office of the Principal for which
admission is sought on or before the prescribed date failing which it will be summarily rejected.
The college authorities shall not be responsible for postal delay, incomplete application in any
form shall be summarily rejected.

11. POSTAL ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Postal admission system has been adopted by the College for admission into the LL.M.
Course. The procedure of Postal admission is as follows:

Merit List Candidates: After receiving the intimation letter for admission from the Principal of
the College, the candidate should send all the required documents in original including two self-
addressed envelops and two self addressed post cards and prescribed admission fee in the form
of bank draft in favour of PRINCIPAL, LINGARAJ LAW COLLEGE, Payable at BERHAMPUR on
any Nationalised Bank super scribing APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION INTO MASTER OF LAW
(LL.M.)

Waiting List Candidates: After receiving the intimation letter, candidates in the waiting list
shall follow the same procedure for admission as laid down above for merit list candidates.
Submission of documents by the waiting list candidates is voluntary and at their own risk. The
College does not guarantee admission to candidates in the waiting list. As the admission of merit
list and waiting list candidates is to be finalized simultaneously the merit list and waiting list
candidates are to send by Registered Post/Speed Post the required documents alongwith the
prescribed admission fee within the date mentioned in the intimation letter.

Note:
1. Submission of Transfer Certificate/ College Leaving certificate in Original is compulsory
for both merit and waiting list candidate.
2. Failure to send the original documents and the required Demand Draft (as per intimation
letter) by the date and time specified in the intimation letter shall result in forfeiture of
the claim for a seat. College authorities shall not be responsible for postal delay.
3. The original documents and the Demand Draft of the candidates who are not admitted
will be returned to them by Registered Post/Speed Post after the admissions are over.
However, the concerned candidates can take back the original documents by submitting
an application to the Principal, Lingaraj Law College before the completion of the
admission procedure. For candidates who have been admitted, the original documents
not required by the College, may be collected from the Principal, Lingaraj Law College
after the admission is finalised.
The decision of the Principal, Lingaraj Law College, Berhampur in all matters relating
to admission shall be final.

12. NO HOSTEL FACILITIES ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE STUDENTS OF THE COLLEGE
13. FEES AND CHARGES FOR THE ACADEMIC SESSION 2016-2017 TO BE PAID AT THE
TIME OF ADMISSION.

14.COMMENCEMENT OF CLASSES:

The classes will commence on the date to be notified by the Principal.

15.DISPUTES

All disputes concerning admission and studentship are subject to the exclusive Jurisdiction of
the Civil Courts and Legal Forum at Berhampur (Ganjam).

All admissions are provisional and can be cancelled at any time for any valid reason such as
misconduct, forgery, etc.

16.RAGGING

Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited. Severe action shall be taken as per rules
against those involved in ragging. As per the U.G.C guide line 6.1 (d & e) of the
regulation (F-1-16/2007 (CPP –II/dated 17June 2009), it is mandatory for all the
applicants to submit an affidavit in a nonjudicial stamp paper as per the prescribed
proforma enclosed in the prospectus, if admitted.
