Workshop Shoulder problems for athletes: From injury to return-to-play

This seminar cum workshop has combined the clinical sharing from an experienced orthopedic
surgeon and a senior physiotherapist specialized in sport and musculoskeletal aspects to provide you
an up-to-date understanding and practical learning in treating common shoulder injuries of athletes.
Instead of using a one-way lecture based teaching and learning approach, participants are highly
recommended to take this opportunity to critically discuss issues including treatment approaches,
clinical reasoning, injury management, assessment and decision-making in progression of treatments
and return-to-play with our invited speakers.

Speaker biography:

Dr. LAW Ying Kan George

Dr. Law is an orthopaedic surgeon who has specialized in sports medicine


and arthroscopic surgery. He completed his orthopaedic training in
United Christian Hospital after graduating from the Chinese University of
Hong Kong (CUHK). With his special interest in arthroscopic shoulder
surgery, he was deeply inspired and well trained by the world-known
surgeon Dr. Stephen S. Burkhart in San Antonio, USA.
Dr. Law was formally working as a sport surgeon in Prince of Wales
Hospital where he performed minimally invasive surgery for elite
athletes, and is now serving in Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital. In
addition, he has been working with the Hong Kong Football Association
in doping control and on-field support for years.
Being the honorary clinical assistant professor of the CUHK, Dr. Law
participates in education and research actively and also provides
voluntary medical service for amateur and professional sportsman in
Hong Kong
Ms Debbie LOOK

Debbie is a registered musculoskeletal physiotherapist and sports


physiotherapist in Australia. She graduated as a physiotherapist from
Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU) and attained her first master
degree in manipulative physiotherapy at Curtin University and the
second master degree in sports physiotherapy at University of
Queensland. Debbie was the former Sport Medicine and Physiotherapy
Service Coordinator at Hong Kong Sports Institute.
Debbie was also appointed as the Hong Kong Medical Team Delegate for
major games and international competitions including Doha Asian
Games 2006, Beijing Olympic Games 2008, East Asian Games 2009,
Guangzhou Asian Games 2010 and Incheon Asian Games 2014. The
professional qualifications and experiences in musculoskeletal and
sports physiotherapy area has made her to be a clinical educator for
undergraduates and postgraduates physiotherapy program of HKPU and
postgraduates of CUHK.
