Riding Dynamics
The T135 is the product of a long development process that started with
hundreds of design sketches, 3D CAD development work and then
further analysis and refinement based on computer simulation results and
finally testing in on the test course and actual ASEAN road conditions.
Born of this process is the kind of handling that doesn't stress the rider
and the kind of running performance they hope for. In order to achieve
fine-tuned performance that can't be expressed simply in specs, or the
kind of "feeling" you have to experience in order to really appreciate,
Yamaha has continued to explore the realm of product creation that takes
the perspective of the rider. And in the process we have developed
exclusive software that quantifies and analyzes the elements of human
sensitivities.
A Sense of Quality

The moment you straddle the seat of the T135 you sense that something is
different from mopeds you have known until now. It is there in the slightly
wider handlebars with their easy inward bend, it is there in the quality look of
the easy-to-read meter panel, in the solid riding position and the quality finish
on the inside of the front inner panel.
It is all somehow different from Yamaha mopeds until now. As you take the
riding position and look ahead, everything that enters your field of vision has
look of quality that exceeds any expectations you had.
There is quality in the quiet purr of the idling engine. The feeling created by
the optimum combination of liquid cooling, forged piston, the rigid 4-point
engine mount, the cowling and the muffler. It is something that could never
have been achieved with an air-cooled power unit.
Blade Design
Three Key Words to the T135 "Blade Design"
1. Emotional + Advanced
Design that expresses the functionality of a moped plus an extra element of excitement. A
design that adds a touch of emotional joy and satisfaction to daily life.
2. Metallic + Mechanical
Design combining a dynamic, high-tech feeling with unique design elements. (A
motorcycle-like image not found in mopeds before) A design so original that once you
see it you will not forget it.
3. Glittering + Classy
A design that shines not all over but in specific brilliant points expressing quality.

Neo Technology
Liquid-cooled engine
To ensure stable power output from the T135's high-performance engine, and to
accommodate all kinds of use conditions, a liquid-cooling system has been adopted. At
the same time, components like the radiator and water passages have been designed for
optimum compactness and the body design utilized to make optimum use of air flow to
cool the radiator so that it was still possible to achieve a lightweight, compact body.

Furthermore, the optimum setting of the 1st and 2nd reduction ratios and the ratios of the
1st to 4th gears helps bring out the engine's full performance potential in a variety of use
conditions, from stop and go city traffic to continuous high-speed running on highways.
The 135cc displacement gives this motorcycle the added torque to handle low-speed
running with ease, while the 4-valve combustion chamber contributes to excellent power
feeling and acceleration in the mid- to high-speed range.

Forged piston
On the other hand, because of the difficulties of maintaining precise temperature control
and other factors in the manufacturing process, forged pistons are more expensive to
produce. In 1997, however, Yamaha succeed in the development of a "controlled forging
technology" that enables mass production of forged pistons. These pistons are now used
on Yamaha's R series supersport models. The T135 becomes the first ASEAN market
model to feature a forged piston.

With the roller type rocker arm, a small round roller bearing is employed on the slipper to
reduce friction and create a smoother valve action. This mechanism has been used on
some automobiles until now, but Yamaha has now applied it to motorcycles by
developing an exclusive design employing a needle roller bearing. This is the mechanism
adopted now on the T135 and it is only the third Yamaha motorcycle to adopt it,
following the European market "XT660R/X" and the Japanese market "Vino."
