PASSIVE VOICE

The passive voice is used to show interest in the person or object that experiences an action
rather than the person or object that performs the action. In other words, the most important thing
or person becomes the subject of the sentence.

1. SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE

Active Passive

To express habits, general truths, repeated actions or unchanging situations, emotions and
wishes

2. Present Continuous Tense

to describe an action that is going on at this moment

3. Present Perfect Tense

b. Function
Is used to indicate a link between the present and the past. We often more interested
in the result than in the action itself. The time of the action is before now but not
specified.

4. Present Perfect Continuous Tense

Is used to refer to an unspecified time between ‘before now’and ‘now’.
The process may still be going on or may have just finished.

promised, expected, or obliged to be done in the future of past.
