Proof of Location
Using GPS Coordinates
for Commercial Entities

NOTE: It is the applicant’s responsibility to read and follow the guidelines for proper proof of location.
Medical marijuana applications not meeting the requirements may be rejected and extend the
application process until all correct information is submitted.

Commercial entity applicants will be asked to provide Global Positioning System
(GPS) Coordinates of their location. The purpose of providing the coordinates is to
provide a consistent way of documenting the location of licensed medical marijuana
sites.

instructions for finding GPS Coordinates by Address


Online map websites, such as Google Maps or Bing Maps can help locate GPS coordinates.

Google Maps

1. Go to the following website on your computer: http://www.google.com/maps

2. Type in the best address for the site, using the street number, city, zip code and state. If there is not a
specific address, enter the closest intersection or landmark for a nearby location. Using the mouse, zoom
in and click on the closest location.
3. Place the mouse over the location and right-click. Select “What’s Here?” from the list of options:

4. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and view the coordinates listed on the card.
There should be two numbers with a comma in between.
1st Number = Latitude Coordinate. 2nd Number = Longitude Coordinate.
